    Hello Fellas,

Been a while since last post, work commitments, holidays and Xmas getting in the way... However.

Don't know if I've got a problem, or not. Initially, I had a problem with a fuel leak on my 1st. generation Sprint RS955i, when the fuel pump pressurised the system. Traced this to the 1/4" plastic elbow that screws into the tank, and the fuel hose attaches to this. Managed to get this out without breakage, sealed the threads, and refitted. Also changed the quick-release fuel fittings for chrome-plated brass items (as per KitNYC's post.... top man) while I was in there.

Tried to start the bike, but although the screen was illuminating, no info was displayed, nor did the fuel pump engage. traced this to the electrical connector at the side if the tank, which the fuel hose was bearing against, causing the connector to separate. Once rectified, all seemed well, but a quick ride showed the engine management light (oilcan symbol) staying on. I remembered reading somewhere that the bike needs 3 heat cycles for the dash warning lights to reset, but can't find this in any of the former posts. I'm now wondering if I've read this in the posts for one of my other bikes (TL1000s). If so, can anyone suggest why the light is staying on? Many thanks in advance, guys.

3 heat cycles to FULLY cold should do it. The light will have come on because you tried to start it not knowing there was a bad connection. 3 rides getting the bike up to temp and leaving overnight should see you right.

Thanks, Yorkshireman. I thought that was the case, but it's that long since a problem has arisen with the bike, I forgot!

Will have to take a look at the catalogue for the company which supplied the quick-releaes fittings in Preston, as the elbow is quite a flimsy item, and I wish I'd bought a metal one when I bought the other fittings.
One thing I ought to mention is the stuff I used as a thread sealant. This is made by Soudal, and the specific product is Soudaflex 40FC. It's the only product I've found that is fuel-resistant, being polyurethane, not silicone. Tried loads of products when the fuel pump gasket on the TL failed, and came across this by happy accident. Bonus? it's only a fiver for a BIG tube!
