I'm no engineer but I would think that a rubber washer would still need to be clamped down hard to make the fixing secure so would pretty much lose any damping effect. I think a shouldered and strengthened washer something like this :-

    https://www.automotioncomponents.co...onents/anti-vibration-washers/p2080/g+m+c+s+a

which is, presumably, capable of a clamping force whilst still absorbing some vibration, is worth a try?

A close inspection of the fracture surface should tell what the failure mechanism was.
Can you put up a close up photo of the 2 parts?
Don't want to speculate but could it be caused by some aerodynamic flutter at a particular speed?

Took the Nightstorm out for a trip to Crossgates for a fat boy breakfast, then on to Brecon, Abergavenny and home. Nice run out but the threat of sunshine never materialised.
Only really saw adventure bikes out doing what they do best........riding on A roads :joy::joy:
Definitely needed the annual clean when I got home though ;);)

The bracket and mudguard were boxed up and sent to Grinnalls so I can't take another photo, thanks for the suggestion.

Nothing today, to much salt on the roads following a very cold night last night.

Sunny this morning in my part of Norfolk so went for a ride. Wrong move:(
On the way back the heavens opened. The contents of my wallet are still on the rad drying out. It came on so quick I did not have time to put the wet gear on. So tomorrow is a bike cleaning day.

Not keen on biking in the rain nowadays but did bike all year round in central Scotland in my twenties (1970-80's), only had 2 wheels so no option.

Cleaned bike and greased chain from holiday trip.

Run down to the Avon Beach Cafe for breakfast, then ferry from Mudeford Quay to Hengistbury Head.

Bloody cold though - minus 1 on the way down. Back home via New Milton, Lymington, Lyndhurst and Romsey.

I once rode from Hertford to South of Hatfield and back in deepish snow on a Yamaha DT250MX - about 10 miles each way. I would have been 23 and Mrs Callumity was then Miss Bait.
It was great fun and I only came to grief on the return leg when I hit sheet ice from a burst pipe lying under 6” of snow. Fortunately it was so bad there was virtually nothing else on the roads capable of moving. I am now trying to remember why I was so keen......:(

Put mine into storage today for about a month, whilst we have some building work done. Timing looks pretty good considering how cold it’s suddenly become.

On my Fireblade I just used to zero the trip meter every fill, about 160 miles meant time to refuel, simples!

I still don’t quite understand the desire to film yourself riding, but plenty seem to do it.
