Holiday always feel like it starts when I get to the ferry port Not sure what I'm doing next year yet, but with the extra free time I'll be looking at doing more touring. Just working out what to do, I've done most of France, maybe do some of the passes like Grossglockner etc, but I can only do so many hairpins before getting bored.... Another option is maybe following the N260 etc along the Pyrenees on the Spanish side. And definitely a few shorter trips as well
Me too. Back in 2004 I was on it, stayed in a little town/village called Ainsa and also had a spin around the Ordesa National Park which is just up the road.

Jeez ... never again lol I went to this site some years ago. We stayed for 2 nights and I never slept a minute of it. It was full of Dutch bikers who got pissed all the time, 90% of them rode Harleys, there was a heavy metal rock band on each night with a PA system that mush have hit 10 million decibels ... and it was fuckin awful. Food was average/ok, beer was a bit pricey but the noise was just non-stop. This is, of course, just my experience. Others may have had different experiences. On the plus side, the site was spotless.
I've not been for perhaps 5 yrs, but before that I used to go every year and I would have been one of those drunken (usually German in my case) bikers having the time of my life !!!!!!
Rather you than me lol I had almost wiped the experience from my memory until you mentioned the site. I saw the name and instantly started to have flashbacks lol The people there weren't unfriendly and the location was nice but that noise .... I dunno, maybe I'm just too old however I was only about 38 or 39 when I was there. As if the noise wasn't bad enough the bands were shit. They couldn't sing and only seemed to be able to scream. The 'music' was all out of tune and we were staying about 50m from the stage which was facing us.
That's my favourite part of Christmas nowadays.... 2 weeks off work to plan next years bike holiday. I'm doing well so far.... I've 10 nights booked (all in France this time), the train is booked both ways. I've 4 mega mileage days to get to and from the twisties but I can deal with that . Just need travel insurance, new tyres and I'm good to go
I'm thinking about taking my bike to Aragon for the Moto GP (south east of Zaragoza) in September,not sure whether to get the ferry from Portsmouth or Plymouth to either Santander or Bilbao?,i'd probably spend a few days in the Picos then head down through the Pyrenees,doing the N260 as recommended
Picos is on the cards for 2020 allegedly.... I've never been and my mate swears by it so we will give it a go then. Can't say I'll be looking forward to the ferry though ... rather be riding than bobbin' up and down in the sea but everything I've read/heard about the N260 will make it worthwhile.
You'd better book it now,the ferry fills up fast,already heard of folks trying to book August and it's full. It's worth it,the crossings not to bad,but take a book,it can become boring.
Hi, re: Swiss vignette - I went in and out of Switzerland a few times in 2016 on a bike tour, and there was no need for this, we didn't even stop for the border.
