Less reach to the bars because of the shorter (than the thruxton) petrol tank, that's got to be a bonus for some!

I love my Thruxton R (2.5 years old now), but I'd be interested to see how this rides in comparison. With higher bars (I must be getting old) it could be a little more comfortable and may also help when commuting by sitting up higher and seeing further ahead. Looking forward to the demo being available. Immediately liked the grey and silver version... but now leaning more towards the red.

yes red for me if i buy one, price i think is going to be £10800.It only holds 3gallons +1ltr but apparently does high 50's mpg and is only 807mm seat height,at last i might be able to touch the floor.

yes thanks for that andyc1,i would be pissed if all the things i was thinking of putting on it to make it trick, then suddenly appeared on another version a few months after i bought that for a fraction of the cost if you bought them all separate.

I quite like the look of the Speed Twin as it looks very similar to my 60's Triumphs and i wouldn't be bothered about an R version, this might be the bike to tempt me off the Speed Triple R :)

Having read the specs I think it is interesting that the dry weight is 2kg less than the new Street Twin - 196kg. I reckon that serious work has gone into a weight loss programme. Triumph have also gone on about how they have improved the handling to the point where it can hold its own against a "modern" monoshock set up. So, put a screen and some throwovers on it and you have a nice tourer, especially if you are getting near 60mpg.

That will be the R version coming soon i can assure you :) Saying that Triumph have spent a lot of time on the handling of this bike backed up by the Rosso 3 tyres fitted :)

It's an attractive bike, especially in red, reminds me of the old Suzuki gsx1400 or Yamaha 1300 xjr muscle bikes. Must be the shape of the tank and headlight.

I'd like a test ride alright but it might be too retro in current form so maybe an R version - or a 1200 Speed R that must surely be coming?

    Exciting times, congratulations Triumph.

Personally, I don’t care for the “minimalist” rear end and ripple board seat, the main reason I bought a T100 really.

Otherwise I rather liked the original Street and if the dealer had been able to provide one in a reasonable time, I’d have bought one.

That is one sweet looking bike, actually two sweet looking bikes. I'll wait to see it in the flesh to say for sure, but maybe the nicest looking off the shelf new bonneville. Not too sure about the black silencers though.

Parts bin specials can be better than the donor bikes , Just look at the Suzuki Bandit, Right Bike,Right Time, & most importantly Right Price.

Got an invite to a viewing on 21st Feb of the Speed Twin (and the new 1200 Scramblers and 900 Street Scrambler) where bookings will be taken for a test ride, be rude not to put my name down. If it’s not for me then let the T120 mods begin...
