So only recently got into triumphs despite being into bikes for years. In 2017 when at the isle of man manx gp spotted this and liked it. Im not sure if its a real factory model or a bitsa but do like the look hence taken pictures of it. No idea who is the owner, maybe on here? Or any detail other than the two pics so please discuss what it is, ages, model etc. as I can feel something similar on the cards in the future? Cheers.
Looks like an early 790 cc carbureted model heavily n Modded ! Shocks and rear end ! And front end looking like it might have had work done too , no rubber Gators ! I hope the owner is on here ! Then you'll get the good oil on what's been done and what's still std !
Agree with capt and ht - heavily modified carb (not EFI) Bonneville (pre 2008 I think) as in different front end and wheels from stock plus a whole load of other changes to suspension, brakes, exhausts, lights, probably bars and instruments! Who knows what engine mods have taken place!
Cheers Steve, and a pic after mods please to see whats possible? What years does this model run as in my opening pictures i.e. carb and simple with minimal electronickery?
I changed the exhausts (twice), the indicators and rear light. I also changed the bars for lower ones and bar end mirrors. The shorter mudguards came off a Scrambler, as did the slightly longer shocks.
Sadly written off in 2015 - but DD is correct - it was "deemed" unsuitable to ride after my little incident
I know mate, I was only taking the peeepeee. But I think you'll find DD was impugning your honour by implying that it was you who were unsuitable, not your bike. Do you have a gauntlet?????????????????????????????
That's true Dave! I'll probably get an endorsement the next time I do the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride!
I prefer the '69 Bonneville in the background of picture 1 - probably because I used to own one. Ee, happy days, when I were a lad etc!! Sorry, Eldon. I realise that the above is not entirely helpful to you but sometimes I have a need to release an irrelevance (or two!) on the poor unsuspecting inmates of this happy band of loonies.
Stevethegoolie I was discussing the pics this morning with two British bike friends, read old men and they started chatting about the wrong bike so your not on your own
