Tank bags and panniers

Been looking for the right tank bag and panniers for my 2012 Speed Triple and the Mrs's Street Triple. After looking around the NEC bike show we have decided to go for the S W Motec Blaze panniers and tank bags that attach to the petrol filler cap ring. Think these will give us the ability to do the odd tour on the bike but the minimal frame detaches easily when you don't want the panniers on.

Got a decent discount from Infinity Motorcycles and will report back how easy they are to fit.:upyeah:

 

The blaze panniers were £280.00 per bike less 10% Infinity did 10% off everything and we went for the special tank bag connection rings that allow you to have a power supply connect direct into the tank bag when you snap the tank bag into place; great for charging your mobile and powering GPS units.
If you go direct to the SW Motec site and put in the details of the make model and age of your bike it will tell you what part no fixing kit you need to fit the frame of the panniers to your bike and it also tells you which tank bag is best suited to the profile of your petrol tank and the connection ring needed

 

NEC bike show offer, but worth asking them. Still awaiting delivery of the stuff

 

Panniers and tank bags fitted and very impressed with the quality



The frames keep the panniers off the exhaust and the frames detach off the bikes in seconds using 4 1/2 turn screws


Different rear frames for the Street Triple but still fit well. We used the 12V tank rings to fix the bags to the tanks, no magnets to scratch the paint, a single pull of a cord takes the bag off the bike and when you refit the bag it re connects a 12V power supply into the tank bag to charge mobile phones and GPS.

 

Is that the Ventura system? Looks like you can carry plenty

 

The bracket that carries the rear of the two frames bolts up using spacers to another bracket pictured below that bolts under the seat. Looks like the crap thrown off the road from the tyre is knackering the paint on the bracket.


Here you see where the back of the removable frame attaches to the fixed bracket above. 4 x 1/4 turn screws remove or attach both frames in seconds just leaving the small brackets that you hardly notice.


This is the front attachment of the frame. The mounting bracket with the clip connector stay on the bike and mount as you can see to the rear foot peg mount. The panniers clip into the plastic clip to stop them sliding off the frames and off the back of the seat.

This is the main mounting bracket that goes under the seat, I had a bit of trouble getting the seat to click back down once I fitted the mounting bracket (adjusted with hammer ). This bracket connects to the bracket you can see in the first photo and you have to drill through the plastic at the rear of the bike to get the bolts through.

 

Each pannier has a tube pocket on the bottom inside, you slide the panniers onto the bottom tubes both sides of the bike, then you simply join the long flaps of the top of the panniers over the rear seat and they just velcro to each other. Remember to fasten the plastic home to stop them sliding off! When you do take them off the bike loaded they will join together with a velcro together handle so both panniers can be carried in one hand.
I do like the SW Motec kit and will be doing a fully loaded test this weekend with tent and camping stuff in waterproof stuff sacks that I am going to mount over the rear seat and panniers.

 

No pillion pegs then I think this will not fit, tail tidy may also be an issue :frown:
