and a bit of a false start, I pick up my Street Twin tomorrow! I was planning to get it on Saturday, but a yellow warning of freezing rain put me off! Didn't want to drop it on my first ride due to impatience.

I live in the Midlands, UK and did a rusty rider course with Camrider a few weeks ago, so all set for some relaxed riding. Already finding some of the articles in here useful. So have been busy buying cleaning products, a centre stand and tire pressure guage! Feel like a kid before Christmas!

My family are ok with me getting a bike, but not exactly happy about it!

Any tips for a returning rider and for care of a new bike will be gratefully received!

I don't think you need any suggestions. You never forget. But welcome to the family and remember the inmates will want a picture of the steed when you get the chance. And the help you need or already know. Take it easy 15 years has seen bike change and acceleration can catch you out. Gentle and gingerly. Any frost around let about 5 lb out of the tyres lets them grip more. And good luck and welcome back. You have a great Forum right behind you and the Brothers will be with you every step.

    Joe.

Thanks for the welcome! Eyes on road, great advice, had to watch that video a couple of times before I noticed there was a motorbike in it!!

Didn't know about dropping the pressure if icy, thanks. Slow and steady for me now, not in it for adrenaline anymore.

I will have the one in the middle. On the right would kill me. And you are just the right lines for something to sit on.
    Regards

You will be fine Mate. Just like you said the adrenalin. Yes I have biked all my life in all weathers and the tyres to me do spread I little better in snow or ice. Thought some of the peeps would have jumped in to give you more reassurance and tips. But you are a Biker and you have all us with you in spirit. I am working tomorrow but will be eager to find out how you feel about your new steed.
    Regards
    Joe.

All three would probably see me off, but I'd go happy on anyone of them, preferably the one on the right.

Hi Notso, welcome and congratulations ! 15 years ago the cellphone was not as much a threat to bikers as it is nowadays, just be alert, look, think and look again when on your bike. You’ll be fine mate !

you'll be fine. I had a 30 year break and was very rusty. Just get some miles under belt, take it easy and enjoy the freedom!

After a non fault accident in 1983 when myself and my wife on pillion were both knocked off and injured, collar bones etc, and my brand new BMW R100RS were written off, I lost my confidence in bike riding,
But after a couple of months, my confidence returned and I took part in an IAM refresher course to help me , I would suggest that something like this, or a Police Awareness course would help you, as it did me.
Enjoy your Street Twin by the way, I'm really enjoying mine after a few mods.
