Ha ha! yep remember that, 80 odd miles to fuel light when riding proper!

The bike could be a piece of shite at that mileage but a bike with less than half that mileage could be just as troublesome.

I think he's going to regret it, but he wouldn't listen to anyone who gave him advice, time will tell.

    Some people can't be told.

Friend of a friend has a R6 as his first bike. He weighs 26 stone, and doesn't like corners or going fast :confounded::laughing::joy:

CBF1000 is a great bike for a tourer/ new rider just over a 100hp and run for ever.
Most 600cc + Honda's will do 100k easily my VFR800 is at 52K and runs like dream!!
But I still prefer the Speedmaster:cool:

No I haven't seen it yet, he's bought it from a relation who doesn't ride anymore, so hopefully he's got a bargain and not a heap of shite.

He's done well for that price. Unless it does look like a dog. That kinda mileage on a big slow bike like that, seems it should handle it ok.
Still a big lump of a thing for a first bike, at 61.

That's my thoughts big powerful machine. Mileage on the Honda's doesn't really affect the bike unless it been totally thrashed. But my reservations are at 61 and that power. Still wish him all the luck in the world. Even if he doesn't get on with it he would get a fair price on a trade with some dealers.

Interesting and very valid point. I worked with one chap who used to come to work on a 125. When he stopped and I asked him what happened, apparently and in his words, it's knackered. When asked why he said it had 80,000 miles on and he'd had his money's worth out of it.
I had some new garage doors fitted and the guy turned up in a knackered looking van. Conversation got onto the Mercedes van and he absolutely loved it although he did admit that at 460, 000 miles the body, not engine, was getting tired :grinning:

I've had 3 Hinckley triumphs, all would be considered HIGH Miler's, 94 Trident 161,000. 2000 Sprint 76,000 . And now an America 2009 with 112,000 still climbing, all serviced every 5,000 with new good quality engine oils. New motor's last for ever !!
