watched this on the BBC a few days ago....fascinating to see the old black and white film transformed digitally into colour,if you didn't see it,it should be on i player or catch up

Director Peter Jackson has built a career of bringing both scale and intimacy to gigantic projects, from The Lord Of The Rings to The Hobbit.

And now he's found an unforgettable way to imprint the memories and experiences of World War One on a whole new generation - using colour.

Jackson's new film, They Shall Not Grow Old, aired on Sunday night to commemorate Remembrance Day and the end of World War One. In it, he added colourisation to original footage from the Imperial War Museum's film archive, matching the images with veterans' audio about the reality of war on the front line from the BBC archive.

I guess i am weird but I prefer to see the original black and white footage.
I agree the technology is amazing but to me the faces of the guys looked false, almost computer game like. Good film though, and the tunneling one is excellent too. I have been to see the Lochnagar crater, incredible sight.

I must admit certain clips did look a bit weird in colour, but I thought the majority looked great and imo someway made it look more real, although the clips they used that were in black and white (they had to slow it down a lot but I don't think it was as easy as it sounds) looked great and the quality after some computer wizardry was amazing
