Just got me a 2012 Bonneville with 2000 miles on the clock! Can't believe it!! Now I'm looking to replace the speedo setup with the SE's speedo + tach. Doable?

Just sold my 2007 BMW R1200R that I had since new. Too big and heavy as a daily driver in the city. Traded in my 2006 Harley Sportster for it. Difference between night and day as far as the motorcycle experience goes.

First bike was a new 1965 650cc Matchless, twin carb (don't remember the model designation), but I really wanted a Triumph.

Looking forward to lurking on here.

    Peter

    Welcome Peter.
Classic looking bike you bought. I suspect a good deal too with that year and low miles. What is the difference between the SE gauge and what you have? Get out and put some miles on that bike. Ride safe.

The plain vanilla 2012 Bonneville has just a speedo and indicator lights. The SE has the side-by-side speedo and tach with the indicator lights between them. The bolt pattern for the brackets is the same for either one.

Ride? In Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania? In November? This ain't Texas! It was snowing up a storm yesterday morning. I think it's Sta-bil and trickler time until Spring. It breaks my heart but I don't have the BMW's heated grips, anymore. :(

I'm famous in my own mind. Other than that, absolutely nothing. Well, I was voted as having the scraggliest mustache in the Persian Gulf when I was an oilfield diver there in the 70's.

Well said. I get messages from my home in Illinois and was told of the few inches of snow that fell last week and the below freezing temps. As much as I miss being at home, the riding here is pretty much year round for me. Even here the heated grips and seat are nice to have on the Trophy.

Pittsburgh? I hope it was a steal!

As for weather, you are the same latitude as Lisbon.....toasty by our standards. I am half way up Hudson Bay!

Whatever, welcome to the cranky fraternity. You clearly add depth of flavour to our vintage. I should warn you a few of us are corked.......

It was a steal, all right! The same price as any other 2012 I saw on eBay, and they all had many to many, many more miles on them. I bought it sight unseen from a Russian in Brooklyn, New York. Man, was I nervous about sending off that certified check...

Lisbon is on the ocean, lucky dogs. Our weather comes whistling in from Chicago, north-west of here, except when a hurricane hits the southern coast; then we get awful lot of rain.

Thanks for the warning, although I'm pretty corked myself.

Btw, are you near the Biggar in Scotland?

Triumph are having a sale in the UK and the tacho add-on for the Bonneville is £75 instead of the usual £250. Might be worth checking if you can order one in the US?

The very same. I jest about your continental weather. It is only the Gulf Stream that keeps our toes ice free. Got Snow Goose friends who trundle between Maine and South Carolina.......where they are now!

I am also very familiar with the Tapline Road having ‘holidayed’ there in 90/91 with a few of your compatriots. Hauled a few gallons myself.

I'm in Shadyside, about 20 miles south of you. We should stay in touch and get together when it's rideable again. :)

Btw, where do you go for parts and service?

Actually, I was infamous for awhile. It takes more explaining. But I'm old, now, and just crochety.

Hey, thanks for the warm greetings, guys! It's certainly more than I got from the BMW riders, bless their souls. I think I made a wise decision, and have come to the right place.
