Back home after a nice few days in East Anglia. I am very impressed with the Explorer. Covered 500 miles, no off road riding. Plenty of cleaning and polishing to be done.

Spent a very quiet day today, washing and polishing the Explorer. No runs planned for the weekend but I'm sure the misses and I will be off somewhere.

New Airbox for the Sprint Sports arrived today. stripped the bike down and just have the carbs to take off and I will replace the old one.

Some bright spark in the past decided to put a K&N airfilter on the bike and has cracked the casing when they have replaced the airfilter element by forcing it. End result is you end up with air being sucked through the crack in the housing and poor performance for the bike.

As I've said before some folks shouldn't be allowed within 200 meters of a tool kit

Also busy tidying up the panels for the Daytona. Been using the G3 range of cleaning and polish, and so far it has done a very good job :upyeah:

Very quiet today. Just pottering about the local area. Tried a few more helmets, still not found the right one.

Adjusted my gear and rear brake levers as they were both too high with the adjustable footrests in the low position. The rests will hopefully help with the occasional cramps i was getting as I pull away and put my feet on the rests. The position feels more natural to me now and I have the option of moving them fore and aft as well as even higher should I wish. There are 8 setting in total. I can't believe the difference 30 mm makes to be honest. The only issue I have is that the rests are a lot smaller than the standard ones but I will soon get used to that. The engine feels so much smoother now thanks to the service, it ticks over sweetly at a touch under 1000 rpm and it started instantly, though it was a good starter anyway. You never know when you have work done,if it will improve or make things worse, lol, yes it should but not always. Have to say if you have a T300 Triumph that needs sorting I can recommend Pete Bevington of Kings Norton, Birmingham who did a great job at a good price with a super fast turnaround. He is a nice guy too and knows his stuff.
Please excuse quality of the pic, it was taken on my fone so not great quality. And yes I know my sidestand is down, lol.

Forgot to mention I fitted a nice black anodised alloy petcock from Sprint Mfg. No more worrying if the tabs on the back will break. A lovely piece of kit for my baby and only £25.lol

Had another enjoyable day out today. Went green lane riding on the Explorer XC. Man, I really need to get fit. Pulling bikes out of mud holes ain't no fun. Luckily there were three of us, but we all got bogged down at various times.

The Explorer really is a beast off road, I love it:upyeah:

Found this inside the airbox of the Sprint Sports when I opened it up

More or less someone has tried to install a K&N filter on the bike and not read the instructions at all which clearly stated that you need to cut away the lugs so you get a flat surface between both parts of the airbox. so when they have put it back together they have just cut the filter element so it sort of fits and used so horrible sealant to make it air tight and forced it back together causing the casing it to crack and more or less ruining a perfectly good airbox and filter element in the process. :frown:

    Some people!!

I've spent most of the day making my garage more secure. Some Herbert's tried to break in over night. The alarms went off but not before they had made a large hole in the roof. Both the Trophy and Explorer were chained and bolted to the floor, thank goodness.

A chap I know has sold me a large heavy duty metal cage 10' x 12' x 8' which will make them even more secure. The roof is repaired.

I've never had a motorcycle stolen and I don't intend to let anyone steal them now.

So all you need is the Machine gun nest and the flame thrower and you should be all secure then

    Plus some anti personnel mines.

On a serious note. These people came with a truck with a mini crane on the back. They were obviously determined to take the bikes. Fortunately for me the alarms triggered. The alarms are very loud. My neighbour came out with his dobermans, he saw the truck driving away but didn't get the number.

Non card holding members of the caravan club then?
Whoever they were that sounds a bit too professional for my liking. I take it the the Police are aware? Did they say that there has been a few of these breaks in your area lately and was yours the only garage attacked? If so then you have been followed home as you don't turn up with that sort of kit unless you know what you are after.

I'm guessing that your bike was on their shopping list.

Hopefully they will only try once but would be nice to catch up with them and string them up by their toes... also possibly a cricket bat involved

Police aware of another incident a few miles away. Same M O. That time they got away with an HD I think. I'm now having cc tv and motion activated lights installed. Plus I've been lent a couple of night vision cameras.

The new cage is a real beast. Again it is bolted to the floor and garage walls. Should make things far more secure. This is the first attempt at theft for many years. Strangely it's just after I've taken custody of the Explorer.

Customers of a dealer a few miles from here (ceased trading for whatever reason a while back) were having their new bikes stolen soon after taking delivery. Sometimes you wonder who the hell you are dealing with ... many people were putting 2 and 2 together, though I don't know if any connection was ever proven. :frown:

I've heard of this sort of thing before but mainly in the motorcar trade. However I have had my Trophy over a year now with no problems. This attempted break in has coincided with me looking after my mates Explorer. Maybe two high value machines together made it a worthwhile attempt.

I was told by another friend who lives about 20 miles from me has had a similar break in about a month ago. However they couldn't get through his garage roof. Best of it is that he lives on a very busy main road.

    I'm just maintains extra vigilance.
