If I had to pick one favourite film it would have to be One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest.
It has everything. Drama, comedy, tragedy and brilliant acting.

If I go to the cinema there are always a couple of cold ones shoved into pockets. My son likes the overpriced popcorn though, and I don't begrudge him that.

Just watched Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy with Gary Oldman and Benedict Cumberbatch... long time since I read the book but I really enjoyed this (above the gentle snores of my Mrs)

    Don’t think it’s a generation x kinda film though

I FINALLY managed to get time last night to watch the DVD version of "SPITFIRE (2018)". What a treat!

This is NOT just another "recycled footage" t.v. documentary with a few shots of Spits., but a full on, made for cinema release, high quality movie telling the (admittedly well known) story of THE most beautiful, charismatic and recognisable aircraft ever built. The aerial photography is utterly and astonishingly beautiful and was shot and edited by John DIBBS, a world class practitioner of this art.

If you've got a t.v. system with a decent soundbar or, even better, a 5.1 surround and sub. system this will just knock your socks off AND cream your jeans! If you're in to the growl of a Merlin (with the occasional whine of a supercharger) it will be 'aural sex' ..... so to speak!

The film is exciting, visually stunning, compellingly interesting and, at times, very moving.

In a sadly ironic way there's an echo of the fact that R J Mitchell never got to see the Spitfire fly, in that Geoffrey WELLUM - I think the last surviving BoB Spitfire pilot - who wrote "First Light" and features in the movie, died earlier this year before its release.

A good film to watch to remind us all of what we owe to all of the brave people that participated in the second world war as we approach Remembrance Day?

p.s. the DVD bonus features are excellent, too!

    buy it here :-

    The Hateful Eight.

What an over long steaming pile of shite. Voice over to explain this turd of a film? You'd have to be a serious dumb-ass to not follow this rank piece of cinematic trite.

How anybody involved thought this was a job well done, is beyond me.

Like an amateur society does a stage play of a who-dunit, but they only had western outfits !!!

Even the soundtrack is utter shite. Go on Netflix and about 9 minutes from the end, hanging scene, wtf were they thinking ????

Google this film, read the synopsis, read the bad reviews, every word true. Just don't waste your life watching this pish, let me save you, everyone dies. I wasted 90 minutes cos I kept ffwd the really dull bits. And there are lots of them. :confounded:

Didn't think it was bad at all. Typical Tarantino film, lots of slaughter. Gets a good IMDB rating and was quite a popular film. Not saying it was a masterpiece.

Mission Impossible Fallout, 2 hours and twenty minutes of non stop action, including helicopter chases, car chases and motorbike chases, a good all round movie.

Agreed, entirely. Storyline is as ridiculous and credible as ALL of the MI franchise series but the movie itself is just pure, boy's own entertainment. And, best of all, Cruise does all his own stunts - including the Arc de Triomphe motorcycle ride - and even took his helicopter pilot's licence for the film!!

Just back from the cinema having watched "Bohemian Rhapsody" - the bio-pic about Queen/Freddie Mercury. I'm no Queen fan, though I do like SOME of their stuff, but this is an absolutely brilliantly put together film with a good story line and some top notch performances. If they give out Oscars for casting, this one's the winner. The actor playing Brian May is more like Brian May than .... well - Brian May!

    Fully recommended.
