Can anyone recommend an insurance company who will cover modifications such as de-cat, power commander, slip-ons and suspension upgrades at reasonable cost?

Hastings can't cover these so looking for options...

    Cheers.

Have you had a human or a computer say "no"? Calling them may get a more sensible answer if you've not tried.

Just google modified bike insurers ffs avoid Swinton,I was over 10 yrs until I modified my zrx (jmc swinger k&n dynojet wavy discs hh pads modded front and rear suspension etc etc) they wanted engineers reports and all sorts, ended up going to Carole Nash until renewal became too much.

Yes, a human. Not gone for automated quotes for that very reason. My policy was only two months old so not too fussed about the admin fee for cancelling as I would have had fee to pay either way.

Google was the first thing I did which is how I found Bikesure. Carole Nash are over £200 more. Thought I'd ask here, nothing like personal experience.

They have been the most amenable, gave the cheapest quote with reasonable terms. I bought the policy from them in the end.

I was insured with principal and never again.when my 5 month old bike which was a pre registration ( I only had it 4 weeks and had done only 300 miles) was stolen they were next to useless. I had to constantly call for updates, they sent a loss adjuster out to find out any lies I had told as they were trying to not pay out. Then they would only give 2nd hand valuation as it was a pre registered bike (that was still in the create when I bought it). Took 7 months and in the end I had to take the final offer or take it to the ombudsman.

There is a reason they are cheep

Try LV they are OK with mods even though you need to explain them as they are not all bike knowledgable. Proper UK company too so if you do claim, its not through an off-shore obscure underwriter...

Bennetts have 16 standard mods included in any policy but they don't include the ones you mentioned - it might be worth calling them and asking specifically. They're a broker but specialists so they're pretty bike savvy.

I know they have been slated regularly for poor after service, and maybe I have been lucky enough not to have had to make a claim from them, but I am now in my 2nd year with MCE.
I pay about £180 F.C up front, for my Speed3, with 3 years NCB. I have an aftermarket can, quickshifter and a couple of other declared mods. My bike is parked on the drive overnight, not garaged.
I think that’s a good price, and I find their online pages easy to use.
On that basis, I will continue to use them and if I have to make a claim ever, and their service is poor, then i’ll move on. Until then, I’ll joy in the low payments i’ve been making

Half the time I think it's down to who you speak to in these places. More than once I've spoken to two different people in the same organization and got two different answers. Probably for all sorts of reasons Bikesure seem to have been the best for me and my circumstances.
