Hi all first post on here for a bit. Bike been running fine but at traffic lights today the left hand footrest bolt sheared off!! [Btw I am 10st dripping wet so not my weight causing it].

Looking to replace the bolt the head appears to be bonded to the body of the footrest and won't come out with a gentle tap from a hammer and drift. I am thinking it's a dremel job.

Anybody encountered this problem? If so how did you resolve it?

Sorted. The bolt is bonded to the footrest bracket so does need dremeling off which is a little tricky but do-able. I used the smaller cutting wheels which you can get for dremels, forgot what the proper name for them is. Needs knocking out to reveal the hole. Find a suitable nut/bolt to replace and Bob's your uncle. Taking the footrest rubber and bolt out for access to use the dremel is quite simple btw.

    That's a bit of a bugger!!
Could be down to previous owners being a bit ... ahem ... portly shall we say?
Might be a good idea to replace the bolt on the other side, just in case the portly person has been treating both sides equally.
If you have owned it from new (bloody lightweight - eat more pies and be like the rest of us, mostly!) I'd still be inclined to change it as it may be an age related fatigue thing. I have experience of such matters, but it's nowt to do with me bike, just old age!

Thanks. Bit weird just waiting at lights and the footrest ends up on the floor. No idea why, looks like the bolts been hacksawed which is impossible.
