Occasionally I get the bike out and am not really feeling it when it comes to riding. Not the actual bike cos it’s always great. I mean a sort of sixth sense or gut feeling that I should leave it in the garage that day. I went for a short ride and just kept with the flow of traffic, no overtakes and kept good distance between me and other road users. I stopped for a coffee, thought about it and turned round, got home and spent the afternoon cleaning and lubing stuff. Does anybody else ever get feeling like that?
I sometimes have the same feeling, you try stuff that you normally don't even have to think about and it doesn't feel quite right, that's the time to reign it in and get to where you're going.
Yep. Get that sort of feeling every now and then and like you normally leave the bike in the garage. It always passes fairly quickly. Thankfully.
I know exactly what you mean Clarkey, I was like that on Monday so I turned around, went home and cleaned and lubed the chain. Therapy comes in many forms..............................................
Ah cool, glad it’s not just me. Yes it’s a nice feeling knowing I’ve been all over my bike, rear wheel off, chain cleaned and lubed. My bikes just passed 1100 miles so it’s the first time I’ve got really stuck in all around it. The service guy aren’t as careful when it comes to chain lube so the stuff was everywhere! Cleaned all the excess off and also all the excess grease from the factory. 1100 miles might seem late in getting it cleaned up but I’d done 700 miles in first 4 days so that’s why!
If you don't feel right, best to call that ride a day. I never do the last session of a trackday anymore for that reason.... admittedly I broke my back and pelvis learning that lesson!
Wow well glad I listen to my inner gut feeling. I think it’s something I’ve learnt to do as I’ve got older.
Yep, also get it from time to time, though not had it recently. Must be a sixth sense sort of thing, weird to explain but it just feels all wrong. Days like that I rather stay off.
That exactly sums it up. Might be tiredness or whatever, did 3 or so hours the day before and felt brill!
So, at the end of the day we all think the same, have the same feelings and are more connected to each other than we think?!
I Spose so. I’m quite happy to admit when I’m not feeling ‘up for it’ or whatever. Nothing embarrasses me or is a subject I’m not happy talking about. I’m lucky because I don’t give two hoots if someone thinks I’m a pussy or whatever. In my view it’s much better for someone to hold a hand up and say, hang on lads I’m not happy about this, that or whatever.
I work in Health and Safety and 100% agree on this in all parts of life. If it don't feel right, it most likely aint.... others possibly say just use more lube! lol
Only joking. We get it rammed down the old throat at work but at the end of the day more people come home from work intact and alive because of it.
It is a common thought, and one I hope to reduce that opinion in the location I work. I think common sense is all the health and safety required.... unfortunately, not everyone is blessed with that skill set!
Depends how much alcohol I have the day before I witnessed a fatal accident about 15 years ago It was Easter weekend and now I never ride at easter Too many people out for the first ride of the year and going nuts....not a good combination
