I would always support a fellow home-nation if England were not there, despite the abuse directed England's way. Not sure why it should be an issue at all. Ultimately, I don't really care if people from other home nations are a bit bitter about it, it happens everywhere where you have a bigger neighbour. NZ'ers won't support Australia, Poles wouldn't support Russians, Belgian (or half of them) wouldn't support France, Portugese wouldn't support the Spanish. It doesn't make it rational though.
Argentina looked pretty average tonight. Can't see them troubling France too much in the next game unless they really have had a back-room coup.
Croatia still lol good, even the b team out tonight managed to win. A team out next for Denmark, should make last 8 at least. I might well win on the works sweepstake
Good article on England. I certainly like the fact that most people’s joy cheerfully acknowledges that it’ll likely go tits-up and spill over into mindless recrimination any minute. Things may be totally precarious – but by God, at least they’re jolly. England’s current tournament status is a lot like Westley’s recollection of working for the Dread Pirate Roberts in The Princess Bride (William Goldman again). Every night he’d be told: “Good night Westley. Good work. Sleep well. I’ll most likely kill you in the morning.” A nation’s hopes are in much the same position. And as Westley points out: “It was a fine time for me.” https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/jun/27/england-unknown-unknowns-world-cup-trajectory
Well for the avoidance of doubt I AM SUPPORTING ENGLAND as I would support Wales and Northern Ireland in similar circumstances. I would prefer Eire over the Continentals and squeeze the US OF A in ahead of the Micks!
