Can someone recommend a good Insurance company because I am struggling to find one !!! Was with Bennetts but they tried to increase my premium by £50 because someone reversed into my car while it was in a car park and I was not even in the car at the time and it was settle with out any Insurance company being involved (the third party paid for the damage with out using an Insurance company .So I moved to Carole Nash now I am having problems with them ,was knock of my bike by some old git pulling out in front of ,he pulled out from a junction without looking. Trying to get my bike repaired is a nightmare with Carole Nash,no communication from them ,keep having to ring them to see what is happening ,being promised they it will get sorted but nothing happens ,it has been 4 weeks now and I am no near getting my bike back then was 4 weeks ago. So I will not be recommending them to anyone .There must be a company out there that will insure a motorbike that can be relied on and not just take your premium and they forget about you until the premium is due a year latter !!!!!!!!!!!!

I was with Carole Nash when I had an at fault crash back in 2006 & again in 2009, both times they were very good, might be something to do with the actual repairer that your having trouble?

Does one exist?!? If they do, they'd be rarer than unicorns and the Abominable Snowman...

Bennetts recently renewed mine but had to cancel it and re-issue with a new underwriter when I kicked off about the 500m exclusion zone around the house! Insane...

Also - if you have kids learning to drive - DO NOT use the black boxes. They are terrible - they are unable to accurately assess your driving, for example:

    1) My newly qualified driver son wished to get some motorway experience. We therefore drove to the inlaws for a 200 mile each way journey for a weekend break. We didn't speed, we took rest breaks and shared the driving duties. We still got a Bronze.

    2) My son wished to take out his own insurance on his car to start collecting no-claims. They refused to cover him (and all the named drivers on the car) as the telemetry said we were terrible... After much arguing it turns out he was TOO CAUTIOUS... They didn't take into account traffic in our sleepy little village moves slower than a walking pace, there are two infant schools on his regular route with speed bumps and it is impossible to accelerate hard in a 1.2 Honda Jazz. To be fair, the v helpful Admiral sales person admitted laughing at the telemetry folks when he heard the reason for why they wouldn't cover him on his own policy! Anyway - they managed in the end to get the Jazz, MX-5, Tiguan and Sharan all covered for £450 than the original renewal of the Jazz... Awesome outcome. They can't add bikes to multi-vehicle yet but might soon.

Whilst it costs a little more, a tip is to tell them that your vehicle doesn't have a lock/chain, is left on your drive and doesn't have an alarm - even if it does - the reason being that if you accidentally forget to chain ur bike, not lock the garage door or fail to set the alarm you will still be covered, whereas...

No the repairer are a Triumph dealer and have done all they can ,it is Carole Nash that has screw everything up Told the bike was a write off the 5 minutes latter rang back to say they where looking at a different bike and my bike was repairable now they keep making excuses why they can not get an engineer to look at the bike to give the go ahead for the repair to begin .Bet you they will be quicker to sort thing out when my insurance is due for renewal !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Things have obviously gone down hill at Carole Nash since my experience then, but that is true of customer service in general :mad::mad:.

I am in process of renewal at the moment, Carole Nash Quoted me £235 inc break down cover, Hastings direct quoted my £199 inc break down/helmet & leathers/legal cover, don't actually need the extra levels of cover so Hastings down to £100.03 fully comp with a £250 excess, Bennett's renewal which offers same level of cover as the lower Hastings quote but they want £135 with £350 excess.

Sorry to hijack your thread Chris but has anyone had experience with Hastings?

I honestly doubt there is too much difference between insurers given the way the customer loyalty of yesteryear has given way to meerkats.....

The ‘reputable’ companies with the smart offices and extensive advertising/sponsorship have higher overheads. Profit is the difference between premium receipts and operating costs plus payouts.

You only find out the quality of your insurance when something goes wrong. Often as not, the quality of the interface and experience is down to the individual with whom you interact and their own experience and competence in implementing company policies. They exist to make a profit, not to be generous!

It might seem a bit ‘random’ but insurance is the only legally enforceable form of betting. A bookie pays out to preserve his reputation. You cannot sue to recover a successful bet. With insurance you are betting something is not going to happen with a measure of agreement about what will happen if it does. It IS an enforceable contract. Just remember too the existence of the Insurance Ombudsman if you cannot agree a ‘fair’ settlement.

And finally......remember ‘time is money’? Often as not these businesses drag their feet as a matter of policy a) to hang onto money and b) because many people then settle for a lower offer because they are losing faith and patience. Funnily enough if you get a replacement hire car or are otherwise racking up the bill, they can move quite quickly.

Advice: (I am assuming comprehensive cover) write a hard copy letter, recorded delivery to your insurer. Briefly recite the timeline and their inaction to date. Repeat your total blamelessness and that you now intend to make ‘time of the essence’. Give them 7 days to authorise repair failing which you will instigate a formal complaint to the Financial Ombudsman.

This would have been solved days ago if we had been asked to 'recommend' an insurance company... :joy:

Sorry to hear, i had the same problem with them. Took them 3 months to get my bike back, thought my gsxr was a gsr and almost wrote it off being 3 months old!

There are no good insurance companies, all the same, money grabing fuckwits...

    Near Gatwick, in Surrey.
Without hesitation, I recommend LV= for car insurance. They do do bike insurance but I'm currently with another supplier, so I can't yet comment on how good they are with bikes, though I'll be insuring with them when my bike renewal comes up. LV are a mutual, so whether that drives their ethos of excellent Customer Support I don't know but they are a dream to deal with in my experience.

Bike Sure ,am I right in thinking if you buy a policy with Bike Sure they donate something to MAG ,being a member of MAG and if you are not a member of MAG you should be ashamed of yourself .(If is was not for MAG riding a motorbike in the UK would be a lot different if it was not for MAG protecting our right ,So for a few pence a week ,come on join now ,the more member MAG have the more powerful MAG will be come and they fight for our right on motorbikes )Sorry about that but it does annoy me, people will buy this and that for the bike upgrades and spend a fortune on them but will not pay a few £ to help MAG do the brilliant job they do .Give them a ring if you value your right to riding a motorcycle in the UK .Back to the thread might give Bike Sure a ring

To be honest thats a massive question to ask with a double ended sharp point no insurance companies are good well maybe once then your next premium doubles and so on, best advice is to do the comparison sites and find the cheapest, it may be carole nash, Bikesure, hastings, bennets and so on.
But as far aa loyalty and year after year realistic premiums is concerned forget it .
