Hi There - T100 Center Stand?

hi

Im Paulo im from portugal and am the proud owner of the 2017 bonneville T100.

I was wandering what solution other owners have for lubbing the chain, i do not have the center stand and find it way to expensive and a rip not coming new, so i was wondering what solutions you guys have and if you find that the center stand makes the difference.
Attached a pic of my bike in the stand ready for pick up around a month ago.

Hi Paulo & Welcome.I went 7 years on me Scrambler without a centre stand then got one last year. It was a pain after every long ride pushing the bike forward & spraying it bit by bit. Now a quick spin of the wheel & that's it! In my opinion it's well worth getting one fitted - not just for that but if you need to take the wheel off & other jobs.... Very nice colour by the way.

 

Me again Paulo... If I were you one of the first things I'd do is spray her with acf-50 or equivalent.

I will rethink the center stand. Excuse my ignorance but what is acf-50? I searched the net and it says anti corrosion spray, do you mean spray it in the chain?

I don't know about the chain - I use chain spray. But spray acf-50 on all metal surfaces, especially engine covers, wheel rims & spokes (NOT brakes/tyres,!). Anything that can rust. There are other anti - corrosion products like Scottoiler 365, some prefer that. I'm sure someone on here can recommend something else. There are so many reports on forums of new bikes with rust - & it happens to all makes. Remember: " Prevention is better than cure".

I make due with a front wheel paddock stand and then use a small hydraulic jack to lift the back frame and wheel. (But I already had those tools so new costs for me). It works for me. I have a new Street Twin and a rear wheel paddock does not work as it interferes with the silencers. And I don't want to have to remove the silencers every time I lube the chain.

To me centre stands are worth there weight in gold when your doing routine maintenance.

 

This is what I use for lifting the front & rear, biketek lifter £34 on fleabay, one handed operation and a doddle to use.

Does anyone have some links for these, preferably on the US fleabay site? I can't find anything for the biketek one. The Constants one I found identical the the one Guedovsky pictured, but it was nearly $150 usd delivered!!!

PS - my first google search I tried bike lift but all I got was a bunch of 'butt lifts', More attractive but not very useful.

Welcome to the forum. You've already found some of the great information. Now you need to enjoy the humor in the different threads. For what it's worth, I always just pushed the bike and had the wife, son-in-law, daughter, grand kids, etc. follow me with a spray can. It was their way of earning a ride that would scare the hell out of them

 

I know what you mean but I had this vision of your whole family, friends & relations running down the street after you all holding a can apiece!

 

It takes a community to raise a Triumph
