Average miles per full tank of fuel

Hi Almo,
Seems like a sensible question to me as consumption appears to vary a lot according to other forums and general internet banter. My experience so far after 3 fill ups is about 139 - 143 miles on 10.00 litres or 2.2 gallons, which I am really pleased about. Some say you will only get around 100 miles if it's all town riding, so if I do a lot of that this may change. Runs so far have included motorways, fast dual carriageways, A roads and town riding. OK, as a new rider I probably take it a lot easier than most, but I try not to hang about. The tank on my 2004 Bonnie is supposed to 16.00 litres but I can only ever get 10 in so this may include the reserve I suspect.

 

Just a thought but you will have a reserve light come on? Have not sussed my Bonnie SE properly yet but about 50 mpg at legal speeds. Handbook will tell you reserve capacity.

 

Good thought, but don't have one on my 2004 T100 - still got the old fashioned mechanical odometer and trip meters in the speedo dial and no warning lights. I will stick to resetting the trip to 0 when I fill up. Will be interesting to see what I can get on one long run instead of day to day stop start running.

 

Same here Almo. 2009 Bonnie has 16.6 litre tank inc 3.5 litre reserve, BUT not possible to get a full tank due fillling only to bottom of fill cap! Hence only 110 to reserve. Then 0.77 gall is roughly 3/4 of 50 ie 35ish depending how yer ride of course. I was hoping for more as we are away to France/Belgium soon.

 

I get about 100 -110 miles before fuel light comes on my 2014 Bonnie... I also managed 20 miles after that to fuel up, normally I'll set the trip meter after every fuel up and try and fill it again round the 100 miles mark

Managed 147 miles before I had to switch to the reserve - waiting at the lights when idle speed gently dropped, switched over to reserve with no problem and filled up straight away. Got 11.16 litres in so reserve is 5.5 ltrs or just over a gallon. You won't get all of that though as the bottom of the tank is split into two sections and the feed pipe is on one side only. May get 30 to 35 miles on reserve I suppose. Will stick to filling up at the 135 - 140 miles mark from now on.

 

On my 2013 cast wheel bike I Just got 140 miles before the lights come on and it's still going (only just) at 170.7 miles. I'm going for it now with a pop bottle o petrol in my pocket!! Eric

 

I went a run to Inveraray yesterday, and filled my Bonnie right up to the fill hole the day before, costing around £15 from empty, and got 150 miles before the fuel light came on, so if I was to try and run it dry, (which I hope I don't have to) I reckon around 170 miles.

I set trip meter 1 every time I lube the chain, and clean and lube it at 500 miles, and trip meter 2 when I refuel, that way you won't get caught out

 

A bit late but I'm a newbie. Have a 2009 T100 from (almost) new, now 17,000 miles. I make progress when solo, tour sedately when wife on board. Typically I expect low light to come on around 130 miles from full and have then run 33 miles to silence once. I reset the trip each fill and take on about 11 litres to full. I don't believe its a 16 litre tank! Seem to get about 52 mpg spirited solo or sedate 2 up.

 

I missed the main point; I usually fill when the low light comes on or around 130 miles and expect to put in about 11 litres.

 

Hi all, I have 4 week old mag wheel Bonnie, done 1300 miles so far, and initially was filling up at 100 miles, as I had no idea how far it would go! But now running it to the light coming on and getting between 130 and 150 miles, depending on who I ride with !!!!

 

LOL. just realised I have had her 1 month today

 

I've only had mine a fortnight, so from full, my warning light flickered on around 140 miles, filled it again at 156 miles and only got 12.5 litres in. That works out at 56 mpg. In theory then maybe 200 to the tank but wouldn't like to run to empty.

 

My 2012 Bonnie does about 130 miles before the low fuel warning light comes on.
By then I always try and fill up asap.... don't wanna take any risks.

 

I've got a 2012 with twin arrows. The fuel light comes on at about 80 if I'm lucky. It runs out of fuel at 111 miles or precisely 4 miles short of Bourne. I do like hammering it but something must be wrong, surely?

 

Definitely, you need it checking out? Any loss of power? You can't be firing on both cylinders? My light comes on around 140 , furthest I've gone is 176 miles with about a litre left in the tank. I would check the plugs first then plug leads. Fuel injection then, so dyno maybe. Best of luck!

 

I got it from Pure Wellingborough about 6 months ago with 800m on the clock. I can't say that it's performing poorly, it pulls like a train. Coming off a street triple R I do tend to take it up to the redline a fair bit. There is a bit of a flat spot at about 3500rpm, not horrendous though. I'll have to give them a ring. The o2 sensors are there. Most of the time I'm out in the country not messing about in town. I had the fuel light come on at 75 miles once but people were saying about the light coming on early. I filled up at 110 miles once and got 12.7 litres of fuel in. What side do you need to tip the fuel to? I tried pulling it over to the right hand side and got about 3 minutes of riding out of it. My 675 was far better on fuel.
