I’m just about to do the artwork on a 68 bonneville/ tr6 British spec for one of my customers and this is possibly what I’m copying off ..... 142E3094-4FF7-43D0-AE48-97B55128021A.png
Has anyone got any more links for me to view on this scheme to obtain a more accurate or original view? I need to look closely at the finished ends of the tank stripes as they’re meant to have gold edges and I’d like to see more of the trailing edge of the tank.

I had a '69 Bonneville in that colour (SHJ 323G ... RIP, nowt to do with me!). As I remember it the outlining was indeed gold. The only differences between Bonnevilles and Trophies were one or two carbs and the colour scheme. Not sure what the '68 colours were, but I'd bet there will be a blue over white (ivory?) paint job in there somewhere.
Perhaps www.tri-corengland.com will have some info on their site.

The paint you have shown is Hifi Scarlet over Silver Sheen for the 68 T120 UK model with the large fuel tank, this has a 1/8 gold pinstripe splitting the 2 colours. The TR6 was Riviera Blue over silver. Also the stripes on the mudguards do not go to the ends but finish just short of the rolled edge. The pictures you have are a good representation of how the paint should look but there is very little in the way of info for the British T120 as most info is for the USA T120R models. I do have a new unused original front mudguard although in 1970 TR6 colours showing how the ends should look if its any help.

That’s good to know. Is there any chance you could post a pic of both ends of the front mudgard as I’d like to see if it’s finished off as a flat cut or contour curved. Also does the gold on the mudgard join all the way round or open on the ends. And yes there is little info on that scheme as I’ve to guess what the trailing edge would have looked like on the tank.

Don't know if these will help. One is from a book and the other is online. There are a bunch of photos online if you do a Google search on "1968 TR6 Triumph".

Now that’s an interesting selection of pictures. It’s strange that the green mudgard finishes different at each end which looks very original paint and it’s also strange that your ‘silver ‘ rear mudgard has a white edge on it.

@Hack Driver thanks for posting those pics. It does show the ‘bigger’ picture as to the overall look and how things sit.
@Dozers Dad its probably not the correct design but it’s the required request to what the customer wants.

The front mudguard is original NOS, they are like that standard and that is how you should do it :). My bike below is a 69 USA spec T120R and has a different colour design for that year called Olympic Flame over Silver Sheen and for 69 the hand pin stripe was white, even my tank design is different. The 68 UK T120 pin stripe was gold :) 69.jpg
