That’s me arrived home about 2 hours ago after collecting my new speed triple from shirlaws in Aberdeen! Fingers have thawed out and I am now able to type!

Weather was terrrible and had to stick to 3500rpm for the journey, so turned off at Stonehaven slip road and took the coast road back to Dundee!

Very comfortable seating position, no where near the shelter on a naked to what you get from a faired bike, it was a good 4 or 5 degeees colder today though than the day I dropped the CBR off, so maybe slightly unfair! But it was flipping freezing! Stopped a couple of times to hug the engine!
You can definitely tell there is masses of poke in the motor and I can’t wait to get this thing run in!
Choice of tail tidy and rear wheel finisher were good ones I think! Heated grips should have also been on my list in hindsight!
Anyway the bike was filthy when I got it home, so I have given it a quick wash and a dry down, I’ll get into the nooks and crannys tomorrow hopefully!
Even with only 60 wet and miserable miles done, I think this is going to be a long and happy relationship!
In the garage and cover on for the night!

Awesome write up. Personally I would leave the cover off so any trapped moisture can evaporate or dry off naturally? Up to you though!

It’s only a personal thing but I would only cover my bike if it’s in a garage with a thin, breathable dust sheet. If you were storing it over the winter and you knew 100% it was dry then your cover is fine.

Bit like a plaster on your finger, after bleeding had stopped it heals quicker if it’s exposed to the air to dry out.

Great bike and it’s a great place to live to use it. I’ve got a friend who works offshore who used to work in Shirlaws and a lot of mates who have bikes up there as I work offshore.

Welcome Scott from the other end of the UK - great bike.
    +1 leaving the bike uncovered.
I have a supposedly breathable cover (in garage) but have noticed that over the winter months even with starting out with a dry bike the cover tends to hold condensation forming on metal parts. Leaving the cover off helps air flow and reduces any condensation, I now just lay the cover on the top during winter to keep dust and spider droppings off the top.

Absolutely not - happy for a bit of guidance! Garage is well insulated but certainly not warm!
It'll be cleaned properly tomorrow - I have already commissioned a hairdryer from the wife.

Ah cool well insulated is probably as good as it needs to be I’d of thought.

Hopefully we don’t need to worry for a few months if the bloody sun will come out!

Get yourself a pet dryer (eBay) only about 50 quid and a must for a new or mint bike to get to dry nooks and cranies:)

Lovely bike and nice report Scott. I envy you that coast road up and north of Aberdeen of a sunny Sunday morning.

    Cheers Rich,
Not a bad bunch of roads in the north east, I have a bit of a soft spot for the cairn o’ mount road and I love the slug road from Banchory to Stonehaven! Prefer the north west coast roads though in all honesty!
