Hi all, Ive bought this morning a 1994 900 triumph trophy and all was going well on the ride home until after about 5 miles the bike stopped dead, after a short while i managed to get it started this happened a further 9 times after cooling down. i was almost home when it happened again but will not start at all now and the aa were called to take me home. He checked one of the coils with a monitor and thinks that no spark is getting to plugs. Could this be the crank position sensor trigger coil. your help would be gratefully received :frown:.
Thanks for your reply, can i take round engine cover off as is where the crank position sensor trigger coil is or do i need to drain the engine oil first. only asking as ive no Haynes manual to look at just yet,
hello roundy mate iv'e got a 1200 does the same thing after two pick up sensors I took it to triumph dealer on the isle of wight where they said pick up so had that done still the same then they said my petrol tap so had that done still the same in fact its still there cant ride it home now they said its the ecu so i've got one of them coming on Tuesday so hope that solves the prob it seems like a guessing game for them but i'm £350 quid out of poket so good luck mate hope you have better luck than me.
HI your bike sounds like my triple. be aware of buying another ecu it may not be the problem. thats the dealers way out and your money. Did you get it plugged in? what did it come up with? check out my probs on the form. I have changed almost everything and still ive problems Garry
A friend of mine is having the same sort of issue with his 750 Daytona and has decided to replace the old carbon spark plug leads with copper ones as the carbon ones degrade over time. I will update the outcome and if has fixed the issue once he has completed the modifaction. Steve
