Does anyone have any experience with either of these tyres on a Speed Triple? I realize the the Pilot Road 5 are relatively new, just trying to find experiences with these tyres in the wet.

I’ve got Roadtec 01’s on my Speed Triple, put them on prior to going to Spain last year. They’ve done over 3300 miles and look like new. They give very good grip in the wet, we got caught in the mother of all showers on the way to Portsmouth and they were brilliant. Also, if anyone’s been on the road from Bilbao on wet asphalt they’ll know it’s like ice but the tyres coped very well. They have a harder centre section so give good touring miles as well as loads of shoulder grip at full lean. I’ll be having them again when I’m due to change. They got full marks in an MCN tyre test.

I’ve just put a set of road5s on my speed triple. And they work well on the cold and wet roads we’ve been having. Can’t wait for the roads to warm up, so I can try the slick like shoulders.

Got roadtecs on my speed, perfect, enough grip on wet roads to pull wheelies!

So much better than the standard sports tyres you get on the speed.

A friend had the previous version of the roadtecs and got 9500 miles before needing a change.

Many thanks. I'm still waiting out here for the damn snow and ice to clear up to get out riding. Bike still has the original racetec on right now, but a bit too worn and I'm not sure that the racetecs would deal with a cold wet road.

Yeah, we still got snow here, the beast form the east v2 apparently
Anyway, sounds like you’ve narrowed the choice of tyres given our experiences, ride safe.

I run them at slightly lower pressures than recommended, 34 front and 38/40 rear with no issues and no uneven wear indicated so far. I’ve found 36/42 to be a bit skittish on other makes of tyre too.

where is a good place to buy tyres online?
    Demon Tweeks
    eBay
    Black Circle

Demon Tweeks seems to have the best package values and professional outfit but wondering if I am missing any...
Looking for Michelin Road 5 - 190/55-17 and 120/70-17 if that matters?

Just looking for the tyres to be delivered, I will fit and balance them myself

I've got Pilot Road 5's on my current ride and they are some of the best tyres I've ridden on, in all conditions wet or dry.

Hi. You probably won’t find too many good deals on the road5s as their still new.

Found an amusing feature with the Roadtec 01 rear, it picks up gravel in the treads. I normally see that happen on car tyres, but this is the first time I have seen it on a motorcycle tyre.

I had the Pilot Road 2, 3 and 4 on my BMW R1150R special edition Black Rockster but the last were Metzeler Metzeler Roadtec 1. They gave me more confidence in the wet and seemed to have better grip on dry as well as on wet roads. The bike rode like a Ducati!! Can't say anything about the PR 5, seems to be very good, but untill now I have only read publicityreviews and no independant tyre tests yet...

Tried that, found that the gravel was thrown up in the air and some landed on the seat behind me.Still found some stuck in the tires though.
