Back down in Westbourne for the weekend. Walked to Emsworth and currently on second pint in the Coal Exchange. Spotted this beauty on the way. Jaguar SS100

Talking of classic Jags, back in the early 70s when I lived in Liverpool a violinist with the Liverpool Philharmonic used to restore Jags in the old stables he'd converted into a workshop at the back of our house. One day he was driving in North Wales when he spotted a car that had been dumped under the river bridge he was crossing - there'd been a bit of a drought and the car that had previously been submerged was now showing its its tail fin which caught his expert eye. He rapidly hooked it up to his Land Rover and pulled out a treasure find - a D Type like the one that won the Le Mans back in 1954 iirc (after the glorious C Type in '53). It was as good as new once he'd completed the restoration. In British racing green iirc. Even before the find it was always one of my favourite cars, on a par with the E Type.

I've been looking for somebody to take one of my kidneys, (or even both of them) for years in exchange for one of these, a Jaguar XK140

And what's not to like? They make great getaway cars as in this scene from one of my all time favourite films, 'Dead Man's Shoes', starring Paddy Considine and a 2CV crowded with East Midlands drug dealers.

Renault 4 for me, had one that was seized, took 4 weeks and cans of wd, paraffin etc to unstick, did many more miles and was great fun as well as cheap to run and had a starting handle!
Only car I've had where you need to wear elbow pads going round corners!

I had a Renault 4 many years ago. Quirky, fun, reliable, and I loved it. Other cars I've owned that I liked (nothing fancy), MG Magnette Varitone and a Ford Corsair 2000.
Recently, a local classic car dealer had an Astin Martin DB4 Zagato for sale - a snip at £4.75m. And it didn't seem to hang about in the showroom for long.

My first car was a Triumph Herald 1100 with sunroof. Loved that car and did many thousands of miles until, par for the course, it disintegrated into a cloud of rust coloured dust.
