Yup they look great but don’t improve the performance so stick one on and admire it in the driveway, cos when you’re riding it you don’t see it anyway!!:p:yum

The plate is not for road use.
Some of you may recognise the photograph location. It's the IOM.

I visited the classic tt last year.
Having been to the IOM to see various racing, and seen the degree of bikes plod ignore .I thought the plate would be a nice touch for the event.

However I do not advocate using these:p or dark visors .I bought it from ebay about £10 I think.

I wish I could find one for a cheap price.

The last price I was quoted for a Thruxton was US$15,000 OTD (includes taxes). It wasn't a R.

In my opinion if you see a good low miler just buy the feckin thing 3td set of tyres just fitted to mine and I still love it. However I have just bought the new tiger 1200 xrt to ride when it's snowing lol.
Bought it last week done 500 on it already. But also managed a trot out on the thruxton as well. #getoutandride.

You'll enjoy the Supersport! I tested one too (well, the Supersport S) and liked it a lot. I currently have a Ducati Multistrada 950 and Triumph Thruxton R. 2 very different bikes, but I love them both. BTW, I'm 55 years young, and perhaps the right age for a Thruxton R?;) :joy:

Well, I've got a Thruxton and Street twin. Both different but great in their own right. Strange as it is the Thruxton was easier to ride around town, if you treated the throttle with respect, because of the 6 speed box. The problem arose when I fitted headlamp fairing and clipons. It's now a different 'ballgame'. Neck ache at traffic lights and slow speed, but it's a 'wiz' to ride. A 'thing' of beauty to look at and ride. I never rode a bike for 35yrs. one silly refresher course, that was it. Only live once, always wanted a 'bonny'. Got dodgy knees, prosethic hip, and had blood clots. Wanted a bit of danger and excitement in my life. 67yrs. Mates took the piss, only jealous, don't give a fuck!

I was just concerned there was an underlying problem with them and unsure what I was letting myself in for. Thought 6 months down the line, I might end up joining the queue in trying to sell one. Don’t think that’s gonna happen though ;)

It's fairly normal for most bikes these days. A high mileage second-hand bike has done about 6,000 miles now.....

I'm one of the guilty parties, having tried 4 bikes in 4 years :p

I suppose I’m one of the rare ones now days. I’ve had my bandit since 2001 and have no intention of selling it. I had my old 1100efe for about 10years as well

I was thinking of transferring the reg from my old 1957 bantam to a T120 or Speedmaster (the DVLA will then issue the bantam with another age related plate) and sticking a black and silver old reg plate on.

I love the idea of modern technology and old school looks, but I struggle with the shortcuts Triumph took in terms of keeping tubed tyres and the lack of corrosion resistance to many parts.
It smacks of cost cutting in production on a supposedly premium product where they should be producing up to a quality instead of down to a price point - especially when they are charging premium prices!

Phosphating the steel and Cerakoting all the metal finishes - leaving a bike that was properly corrosion resistant - would be a huge (and dare I say unique?) selling point!

I have just sold my Bandit 1200 after 15 years. I just owned a lot of other bikes while keeping the Bandit :D

Bought a new '16 standard Thruxton. Love it, but the ride is rough. Had some health problems so only 1,300 mi. Will be riding lots more this year, but if reducing preload doesn't make it less harsh, I'll be looking for different shocks.
Any ideas ? BTW, putting an ICON on my '96 Trophy 900, so that might be one option for the Thruxton.

Preload is for ride height so any change there is unlikely to change a harsh ride. Any damping adjustment on the Thruxton?

No, just preload. I thought preload would primarily reduce spring tension and, ok, maybe lower the back end somewhat. Man, I have to recalibrate my 70 y/o brain every time I mount up. A 73' Bonnie, a 96' Trophy, and a '16 Thruxton are completely different beasts. After 30 chemo & 30 rad treatments I have to stop and think about what the he__ animal am I riding.
