I have just been having an initial look at my newly acquired Sprint 955 and found a multi-plug hanging down near the starter
Is it meant to plug into another one hanging down above it below the tank? The cable colours look the same and the plug shapes appear to match. Not sure what the wire is behind the plug in the first picture though!

I have also checked the expansion tank which is dry. I put some water in it only to find it ran out of the overflow pipe beside the engine. I took the radiator cap off and only put a small amount (less than 200mls) in that before it was full. Either the overflow pipe is not connected or there is another problem. Any ideas? I have yet to start it as I need a new battery - it is toast I think as the Optimate thinks it is charged but nowhere near!

Not sure on the Sprint but on Daytona and Speed Triple there is an elbow fitting in the top of the expansion tank where the overflow line connects. This elbow breaks, causing air to be sucked into the radiator instead of coolant when the engine cools, and coolant to be blown out to atmosphere when the engine is hot, thus emptying the coolant bottle and causing overheating.

Picture 2 connector looks like the "spare" injector connector that's in the loom but not used.

Due to differing World Market requirements, you will often find unused plugs (some for the California market Evap controls for example) also on several of my previous Triumphs, the loom included plugs for easily attaching Hella sockets for accessories and chargers.

There was NEVER a spare injector connector with any triumph. It gets confused with a connector that is used on some models where a purge valve is used (california model).

Yes unused. It is very similar to the injector connector and a very easy to mistake it.
