Annoying Slow Puncture

You would think a dip underwater would expose any leak anywhere, guess you have checked the valve? Could try over inflating the tyre by about 25 psi and then re- dip the whole wheel and tyre to see if it exposes the leak.

 

Yep could work but I think I would personally still like to find where the leak was. If its only doing it since the tyre change it could be a defect in the tyre itself, or has the inner rim of the alloy wheel been scored at all by a tyre lever? You can get porous castings within alloys but then the tyre would have always had a slow puncture.

I always carry a can of Holts puncture sealer for emergencies.

I know there has been all sorts of issues with the BMW run flat car tyres cracking the alloys on the wheels (lol what a shame)

 

There's no point in giving it 60 lbs. That will distort the tyre and possible cause the bead to seal itself.

Just use your normal tyre pressure. Suppose you use 30 lbs. That's 2 atmospheres. A loss of 8 lbs is 1/2 an atmosphere at that pressure.

So half a tyre volume, at everyday pressure, is leaking out in 24 hrs. What's a tyre volume ? A gallon or so ? five to ten litres ?

So five litres in 24 hrs, or 200cc an hour, 3 cc a minute. 3cc a minute is exactly a small bubble from time to time.

So go back to your original dip, and there's your leak.
