Yeah mate it’s a huge chunk of money :(
But wearing glasses has been getting on my nerves for years now
I’m bloody sick of them
Enough to go under the knife and get my bloody eyes put right once and for all:eek:
It’s just the cost which is the stumbling block :(

Or.....stick with my BPOS and be able to see properly again :)

It’s permanent :) as they take your lens out which doesn’t flex as it should because of age
Then an artificial lens is put in its place which doesn’t deteriorate and should last the rest of your life :)

I’ve worn contact lenses for almost forty years now, without a problem. But when I first got them I had the same issue, namely how to get them in.

I should say my lenses are gas permeable (hard) lenses, which are great and IMHO easier to get in and out.

The challenge is how to get the lens into your eye when, psychologically, it’s hard (impossible in my case) to push your finger directly onto the pupil. After literally hours of failing to do so (if only because of the blink reflex and pure cowardice) I found that the solution was surprisingly simple:

Just pull down the lower eyelid and rest the lens on it. Release the finger holding the eyelid down and, bingo, the lens is in the eye. It won’t be over the pupil, but it’s pretty easy to gently nudge it into position by pushing your eyelids. Takes about 20 secs per eye.

And to get the lens out, just tighten the eyelids with one finger and blink. Hey presto, out she comes.

I’m sure it would be more difficult with soft lenses, because they tend to fold up inside the eye.

Despite the name, hard contact lenses are not uncomfortable. I don’t wear them so much now, but for most of the thirty five years I wore them from 6am to 11pm every day, and if I had for some reason taken one out, which obviously affected my vision, to check which one I had taken out I would have to shut one eye and check whether or not I could still see.

So it might be worth giving the lenses another try.

    :grinning:Woo hoo :grinning:
I’m sitting here using my phone to write this without glasses
Managed to get the contact lenses in this afternoon :)
    Had them in:)
    Had them out :)
    Had them in again :)
    Had them out again :)
Put them in again and have left them in :p
Ok at the moment my vision is not perfect but one lens is for distance and the other one is for close up
Been told that it will take a good few days for my eyes to get used to them and adjust themselves as they’ve both been dealing with the same problem and now they’ve got to deal with the different lenses independently
My eyes are red and sore
And I can feel the left one especially like if I had an eyelash in there :(
But when I first managed to get them in and after a bit of blinking and settling down the optician gave me a test card and I could read the smallest print on there :eek:couldn’t read it before even with my reading glasses on :(that’s how small the print was
When I first left the store my distance vision is definitely worse and I feel a bit cross eyed :confused:but if I close one eye it’s perfect :)
Best thing was the drive back home and being able to see everything on the dashboard in the car :)
I’m sure it’ll be the same on the bike for the speedo and switch gear etc :grinning:
If I can get used to putting them in and taking them out with practice then I think this is the future for me :)

Noting the above Dilligaf, I wouldn't worry to much about it marra anyone that knows you properly wont see nowt new or notice any difference :):)
On a less funny side I'm well chuffed for you Marra, at least you persevered with the sensible cheaper and un-doable option.:cool:
Does that mean Frank's ganna be have to be giving you the correct change now after sending him to the bar :worried::worried:

    :(Just taken them out
Or rather I had to get my wife to get them out as I couldn’t do it :(
Feel like I’ve been in a fight :worried:
But I’ll try again tomorrow and see if I can leave them in while I’m at work
Then when I get home I’ll give it another try at removing them and if I can’t I’ll get my wife to do it :)

Stick at it Dilli, it takes some practice, but once you get the hang of it then it takes seconds. I wore them for years and remember my first week of attempting to put them in and take them out almost put me off. I liked the disposables, slightly more expensive but always comfortable as it was a new pair every day.
    Good luck.

Good luck Dill that's the reason I went for the Laser surgery and I can touch my eyes with a fingertip no problem, I just couldn't get on with putting the lens in getting them out was easy I put two fingers to my eye and pinched out the soft lens. Hope it works out for you.
    Cheers, Pete.
