It’s very like a generic garage door opening mech but they run solid bars at the rear which is no good to me. I need cable op only. Any clues ? Please only reply if you’ve seen something similar and can direct me. Eric

Why can' you get a garage type mech and remove the bars - just fit cables on the cam.

@Sprinter thanks but it won’t do
@stollydriver thought of that but it needs to be an existing item
@andyc1 looked at a lot of those before I put my desperate message on here
    But..... cheers for the input

Ok to give the bigger picture, I’m building a prototype van accessory that’s not been done and the part I need needs to be factory manufactured as when it takes off I want to mass produce my design as I haven’t got time to mess with the time consuming fiddly bits.

That could be quite simply made on a basic milling machine in plastic or aluminium for ease of machining.
If you thought the numbers were going to really take off, have the inner components that pull the cables injection moulded.
The movement could be rack and pinion style or just offset lobes.
The casing and handles should be readily available as standard items or close enough size wise to incorporate in your design.

@Sprinter, no it’s a design I’ve in my mind if that’s what you meant. I’m sure there’s summat out there that uses something like that, possibly from a maybe a classic car boot lid shut or a tool safe or in a fancy door to maybe a motorhome or horsebox compartmented. I’ve emailed the obvious companies with my picture but wether it got to counter staff who would just look and say ‘yes I know where there’s one of those’ as opposed to dim office sales who just see stuff as numbers I’m not sure.

Your ideas right as a second choice if I really can’t find any. I did think about using garage door mech with the T handle type with mods but I’ve a lot of hand made parts going into this already and it’ll be a real pain.

Usually open cables and cable tensioned lifting I only found.
