Hi all, Has anyone else used Avon storm 3D X-M's on their speed triple, are they a good choice? if not any hints for a decent, long wearing sports/touring tyre that wont break the bank would be much appreciated. Happy 2018. Dave.
Liked the old storms, good tyre and Avon give more tread depth than other manufacturers. My favourite Sports Touring is the Pirelli Angel GT, good mileage and excellent wet grip.
I haven't tried the Avon model you asked about David, but I did have Avon AM 26 on my Bonny T100 and did about 25,000 kms of sport touring and found them brilliant.
Put a new Avon Storm 3D XM on the back of me Trident last summer. Not tried it out in the wet or done enough miles to judge wear as yet but initial impressions are very good - minimal 'chicken strip' within very short time. Just need one on the front in the not too distant future.
Thanks Steve, I think that's convinced me to go ahead and get a pair fitted to my Speed Triple. Thanks again. Dave.
Have to say I’m not a big fan of Avon The lady that comes to my house trying to sell me makeup is nice enough But personally I prefer L’Oreal Because I’m worth it
Tires can be a personal choice depending on your riding styles. As long as you pick one with decent reviews, you should be good. All the best buddy
Thank R-1000, I've had the Avon's fitted now and looking forward to getting them scrubbed in. Regards, Dave.
Haven't tried Storms but love the Roadriders I've put on my StTwin. Our GM used to race a lot, and has his own business building and prepping race bikes; he swears by the all round quality and attention to detail of the guys at Avon.
Hi Rich, thanks for that, after reading some decent reviews I've had a set of Avon's fitted now and can't wait to get them scubbed in.
Had the previous Storms on my old(2013) street triple and they were great-both grip(wet and dry) and longevity.Last two sets on my Speed 94 have been Bridgestone M30 EVOS,great tyres but I can get a front and back in the Avons for not much more than the cost of just the rear Bridgestone so next set may well be Avon Storms
