    Hi,
I'm due to take ownership of a new Thruxton R (Black) on march 1st.
I've always been a sports bike owner or similar and never had a bike of this style.

My dilemma is what kit to wear as a one piece won't really look right? I.e. open face helmet, retro jacket, jeans etc.

What do you guys wear, pics would be appreciated.

    Thanks JB

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Truth is, unless you are going for that "retro" look then anything goes! I mainly wear kevlar jeans and black leather jacket on the Bonneville with open face AGV helmet for gentle runs but more often than not my flip-front helmet. As its cold at the moment, the jeans are less likely to be worn so it's my IXS black textile trousers. Wear the same jeans and textile trousers on the Tiger but tend to wear a textile jacket rather than leather.

Don't forget the obligatory "Hipster beard" to go with the open face helmet!;)

Seriously,...... wear clothing that is going to protect you at the speed you are riding at!

Looks don't count for shit, if you end up in a shunt!...... or worse!

Then again, I’m about the same as @steve lovatt although I tend to use the open face more due to riding position restricting the head turning abilities

As long as it's black to match the bike you should be fine.

I wear Wolf Kevlar jeans & my bomber jacket with white Arai full face when dry. When wet Alpinestars trousers & jacket. Open face would no doubt give you better peripheral vision particularly on the life saver observation, but I would worry about any issues in the unfortunate event of an accident. Brill bike by the way

Is that a sheepskin flying jacket or a hide pretendy? The former is liable to grip and tear, not slide.

I remember Dobbs, quality gear at what seemed to me to be a justifiable price. Didn't think I needed their gear whilst I lived in the town and moved onto other stuff.

Great story about service, almost certainly wouldn't happen now, sadly.

I’ve only had my black thruxton since 18th December. I was already wearing Aero Cafe Racer leather and Resurgence Cafe Racer bike jeans and I’ve just bought the Hedon Heroine Racer Retro helmet to go with it
