Took my new Street Triple on its first proper ride and stopped off at a nice motorcycle cafe then spent a good while cleaning all the salt and grime off it.

Got time today for a long ride.
After all my fitting and adjusting, the bike was great, it feels planted and responsive with a smoother power delivery, ( I think ).
I got it dirty, after just getting it clean

Newbie here. First post and today I started an attempt to fit OEM heated grips to my Thruxton R. Not much progress as no fitting instructions. Found the factory instructions site which says remove tank. Took out holdin bolt, lifted and slob back but now not sure what needs to be disconnected , if anything??? I gave read that maybe tank removal us not needed???? Can anyone advise on any part of this ??? Any help much appreciated.

    Hi Jack and welcome.

You may be better posting this in the Thruxton section. Thruxton owners will spot it there.
I've had a quick look on the triumphinstructions.com site with a part number for Thruxton heated grips (A9638135). There is a 19 page comprehensive fitting guide. That should be okay for you to finish the job.
But by posting in the right section might get you advice from someone who has done that job.

    Good luck.

Both pistons tight as feck  but got there in the end :) DD523D77-523D-43B9-9463-A9E94F152323.jpeg right.....time for a sandwich and a cup of coffee ;)

Yes, thank you for that. Trying to find my way around the site and how to post . I looked at instruction but as said , re tank you need to refer to service manual which it appears is not easy to find . Will try to post in Thruxton . Thanks again

Them pins are a PITA. I actually pull them out every 3 moths or so to polish and apply some light copper grease (am a bit paranoid that it'll end up on the pads).

I would have expected to remain nice and smooth a bit longer!

Great job, how did you remove the pistons, did you use air? those pins are a pain. Im with Mischa, I get them out about three times a year for a clean and just to free them. Peace of mind when they re done,:).

Replace the pins with stainless or Ti versions...... problem solved.
    SS about a £10, Ti £20

I think most of the time this type of pin gets over tightened and without copper slip on the threads or the pin itself :(
Definitely no sign of copper slip on these ones
Little tip for you after you’ve put them back is to get some silicone sealer and fill the Allen key hole and a smear round the top where the thread is so as to stop dampness getting in:)
Next time you need to take them out you can easily pick it away with a small screwdriver or even your finger nail :)
