    So you should be Steve!

Never heard of Regent or Cleveland?

PS.... I feckin love this forum. In my day to day life. I'm an old git. On here, I'm a youngster![/QUOTE]

Regent became Texaco. Not sure about Cleveland, although Cleveland Discol was their fuel of choice. National Benzole, to give it its full title, was made with a lot of added benzene.
Just remember, Jez .... age is just a number:confused:. Now feck orf!!:p You'll be telling me next that you are better looking than me.:laughing:

Apparently, when I was born (at home) they slapped my arse and then gave me a tot of brandy to get me up and running. At which point I decided that I was going to like life!:grinning::grinning::grinning::yum

Smells are a powerful trigger for memories from years ago.
Paraffin stoves were the only source of heating for us and many, many other families in those days.
Complemented the tin bath hanging up outside in the back yard, the lino covered floors and the intricate ice patterns on the inside of your bedroom windows, those were the days!
