Hi Steve, over here the festivities start Christmas Eve as well. It's the time for the adults to celebrate Christmas and Christmas Day is for the kids and presents.

Christmas Eve is called Réveillons and truly is the full monty. At the end of our first year in France we were invited to Réveillons, it started at about 7pm with cocktails and went through perhaps 8 courses, with "Eau de Vie" (home made alcohol of various fruit flavours) between each course. Finished off at something like 2am.

We used to have some Polish people next door to us, a really lovely family, they used to have Carp on our Christmas Eve, used to stink awful though!
BTW, turkey should not be dry if cooked right, never had one yet, we baste ours and inject sunflower oil into it, it just crumbles when cut.

Yes they broadcast it on every public t.v.-station on NYEve. They even have a version with Hessian translation...
    Folks love it.
I prefer the humor of Monty Python... :D

Trouble with goose is it's so bloody expensive. I always get a capon for christmas day. Tasty and succulent. And with home made stuffing it's the bee's knees.

Lady Poppy cooked goose for Chrimbo for a couple of years and it was fab. Roasties in fresh goose fat are epic. But, there is a LOT of fat to drain off and it was declared too much of a faff. We now also have a caper.

What about changing the radio or the heat, is that the same or is that ok?
A couple of years ago a local man died cos he dropped his lighter in the foot well and tried to pick it up.

Well before mobile phones they weren't making / taking calls, texting or on social media whilst driving, I honestly think the use of mobile phones etc should be illegal whilst the car is in motion.

Apparently its Illegal to use your mobile whilst the car engine is running in Oz.

At least it was a prison sentence for her rather than probation and don't do it again, its a start ....
