Currently have a XL 1200 harley with straight through pipes and it's very loud and spits and pops s a lot

And I really want this kind of Sound for my new Triumph t120

I appreciate it's a different engine sound but how will I get it that loud?

    Thanks

Open pipes. To get the sound right you'll need a complete cat-less open system. The T120 is still quite new so I've not seen a cat-less setup yet.

Look at 'Zard' or 'Norman Hyde' for cat-less systems, to name but-a-couple.
    They both sound lovely.
    Good luck

Start off with fitting a X-pipe to remove the CAT then most slip ons should give you a pretty good sound. Remus probably sound to best imho. In fact I would say Remus (without the DB inserts) sound excellent even with CAT in place.
Maybe just what you're looking for...... :)

Does decat make the stock cans loud?

Also does it make tge engine light come on?

Removing the Cat gives the standard silencers more of a rasping sound rather than being out and out louder. Try looking at the Remus slip on video on YouTube - I think you'll like the way it sounds.
Removing the Cat does not cause the Engine light to come on so you'll be okay there. Again there are several Vids on YouTube about fitting an X- pipe.

X-Pipe is probably one of the cheapest and best mods you can do to the exhaust system without having to sell a kidney.

Check out Meerkat mufflers on the web or Facebook.
I would recommend his stainless decat and straight through megaphones, Good load sound and better performance (tested on a Dyno) plus no ECU changes required if fitted to WC twins.

Meerkat is a top quality OZ stainless sheet metal guy who now makes a decat for the WC T120 and can also make up various types of mufflers to fit.
He can also make full exhaust systems to your design if required.
Based in Gympie Queensland but will supply world wide, In my opinion his gear is better and cheaper than other suppliers for decats and or mufflers.
NOTE I have no connections with Meerkat apart from being a customer

This threads got me thinking... I’ve got Remus cans fitted nice sound but not mega loud and doesn’t bark as such
Spotted these from George decent price and reviews

    https://shop.tecbikeparts.com/products/decat-xpipe

I’ve been wary of the ECU and the fact it can’t be remapped (as far as I know) but this sounds an option

So assuming that’s a new Thruxton? I honestly thought you couldn’t remap the new ECUs ? Interesting

Had a bit more look at TEC’s X pipe and a quick chat with George, looks like the best option for price and build quality he reckons they run fine on standard map with a bit more grunt but if someone is doing remaps........

This is interesting as much as I really love the bike I’ve always fancied a bit more power. I know a speed twins on the way with the Thruxton motor but I suspect the styling will be more modern . The Bonnies so comfortable looks great is good 2 up now suspensions sussed so this plus x pipe could be the answer to my prayers
Look forward to your thoughts when you get on the road

Shouldn’t do I’ve got the Remus cans already and am picking up George’s x pipes next week

Spoke to the guys at hilltop and they definitely can do the T120 with any exhaust configuration

I will be sending them my ECU shortly!

    Slight rethink

Good chat with George today whilst picking up X Pipe

His advice was try x pipes with open exhaust DNA high performance air filter and the power boost plug in module I tried a while back rather than remap

Or/as well go for a well set up dynoed power controller

    Go a try former first

Is remapping about more power or giving you a more responsive better ride?

    Or both?

Remapping is about tuning a vehicle to optimise it's performance with the current configuration of inlet, motor and exhaust components.

Allow me to explain. Manufacturers who sell their products around the world in different markets need to comply with a bettery of regulations and standards. As a result the performance is often "dumbed-down a bit.

Remapping allows aftermarket service providers to tune the bike taking into account the market conditions and the bike's specific configuration.

Very often the bike will run smoother, more responsive and with better fuel consumption.

Very much agree the current euro 4 emission regeme means meeting certain emission at different revs etc etc meaning engines tend to run lean and and not necessarily as smoothly as they should particularly in a Bike’s case as the engine does not have the rotating mass of a car engine to help smooth them out.

So a remap can help with this (emissions won’t be the same but not tested at mot) and also other parameters can be changed to boost power and torque but only if the ‘electronic ‘key ro the ECU is available which I believe it isn’t on the new model ECUs (or hasn’t leaked out yet)

I don’t know how much will be gained by ‘piggy back’ remap software as offered by some but I’m trying the route I mentioned earlier for now which should unleash a bit more power, torque and noise !

I may look at a remap or power controller later on plus George is working on camshafts too with some impressive results so far
