One thing to remember about ferry companies especially those that operate overnight or longer sailings is that they operate a fluid pricing system.
So the earlier you book the less you pay, well that's what I've experienced.

    Hi mates!
This is Hotel Lindental in the Eifel:
    IMG_0886.PNG

The area Eifel is actually some miles to the north-west from this location, just as the Mosel is east of it as you can see.
But their location helps keeping the rates low.

Sorry that I missed the second poll. I resent my mail to the Hotel Lindental with the September request just a couple of minutes ago. When I have their answer, I call Bad Grund (Harz) again.

    Cheers!

    Here is another zoom out:

    IMG_0887.PNG

Don't know, why they actually claim to be Eifel at all. It is quite offset from there obviously and this got Andy confused, doubtlessly.
To go to the Naturpark Eifel takes a little more than an hour from Bad Bertrich. (Quite nice riding anyway :))

I think i'll just carry on saying it's in the Moselle Valley, it's less than 10k from the river as the crow flies.

Dates. Waiting to hear from accommodations. (see my previous posts)
    but here :- http://www.bikerhotelgermany.com/
and possibly if any demand on to here :- http://biker-hotel-harz.de/en/your-biker-hotel-harz-mountains-germany/

Meet at the first accommodation but obviously if you are taking the ferry from Dover to Calais for example you might want to do it in a group. Just as we go to GMU's in little groups. We won't all be doing the same crossing.

We are waiting for news from our No.1 destination at Bad Bertrich (Mosel). I told them we need 3-4 days for 8-12 travelers. From there, some of us move on to the Harz. The hotel there we check after hearing from the Mosel Hotel.

    :)

OK mates, here is the news from Bad Bertrich (Mosel):

They can accommodate us starting at the following three dates:
    10th, or 17th, or 24th of September 2018.
These are all mondays. Weekends are already booked.
On all of those 3 dates we can all stay 3-4 nights.

Perhaps you would like to poll on this!? It probably also depends on your ferry options...

    Greetings, Daniel

    What about using a holiday home/villa ?
I've done that a few times in the past with a Bandit forum group and it seems to work well.

I think the organiser of this trip (Andy?) just needs to set out what he wants to do and then see if others want to join in.

So my suggestion is pick a date, a ferry crossing, a hotel mid way to the destination and then a destination.

If there is a Hotel mid way then others who choose other ferry crossings can then meet up there and then ride to the final destination together. Brussels area perhaps.

Don't think picking a ferry crossing for others will work, those up norf may not want to ride all the way to say Dover and possibly need a overnight hotel in Dover just like those down sarf won't want to ride up to Hull.
For me Meet Up at the destination hotel.
As said last week stakes in the ground are needed.

I’m not sure you read all of my post. I suggested Andy choose a ferry and if others wanted to join him fine. However, those who don’t can choose another crossing point. I then suggested having a meeting point mid way to the destination. The Brussels area looks like most people would, pass through it regardless of where they cross. Of course when the final destination is set, there may be a better place to meet up.

If Andy does not take a unilateral approach to organising this event it may never happen. (My humble opinion of corse).

As far as i can see its about 400 ks from rotterdam to bad bertrich id ride that in a day...so straight through would be the way id do trip especially after a night ferry trip from hull...

So we have the 10th, 17th or 24th September 2018 (all Mondays).

I propose a Northern contingent take the Hull to Rotterdam ferry on a Sunday night and ride to Bad Bertrich the following morning. This is just over 250 miles.
The cheapest ticket is a 5 day return which gives four nights in Bad Bertrich.
We need to pair up to save £98 each on a cabin.

The Southern contingent will obviously choose a southern port and end up somewhere like Calais which is 300 miles from Bad Bertrich.

We stay four nights in Bad Bertrich at the Motel. They do evening meals which need to be booked in advance. You can book the night before. Personally I would rather walk a few hundred yards and choose off a menu and try a few different beers etc.
We book our own accommodation and ferries, pairing up as and when. Some might like to hold hands ?
We use routes provided by the motel owners plus we visit places of interest. We don't all need to go to the same places.

The big question is who would want to go on and visit another area ? Perhaps the Harz mountains ?

For those going via Hull, you can only book one motorcycle per booking. So, to pair up and make the £98 saving, it needs to be a telephone booking. So therefore there will need to be some monetary transactions between members.

I'll post another poll to select a date.

Anything I've forgotten Rooster, just ask (just saying)

Looks ok to me. Eurotunnel would be my route at around £80 return. I may stop mid way to Bad Bertrich, depends if Mrs Rooster comes with me.

Agree that eating out would be a better option, than booking in advance.

The overnight ferry from Harwich to Hook of Holland looks like a good option for the Southern crossing....

Well I though that, but then I looked at the distance between the Hook and Bad Bertrich and Calais and Bad Bertrich and there is only 40 miles difference. So for £80 return and 30 minutes through the tunnel with dozens of crossings per day vs traveling at 11 at night for a lot higher cost I’ll definitely be going through the tunnel. As I’m 200 mile from Folkestone I’ll stop in a hotel there the night before, or possibly one in Calais.
