I like pies! Last week SWMBO and I were in mid Wales on a self catering break (sadly, in the car). Passing through Rhayader on the way to the Elan Valley we, well I, spotted a butcher's shop on the road out towards E.V. so we decided to stop on the way back to see what pies they had. Although not cheap (£2.40 each) we bought a couple of steak pies for that evening. Seemingly the shop owner cooks the steak and his wife makes the pastry. BLOODY DELICIOUS!!!!!! The pastry was tasty, crusty, thin and soft but not soggy in any way. The steak was melt in the mouth gorgeous and the pies were packed full of the stuff. As I said to the butcher as he handed them over to me, "These pies mean business!". I wasn't wrong. They really were quite weighty. And the name of the purveyor of this pie perfection? Bob the Butcher. www.bobthebutcher.co.uk Highly recommended by a fat person (but I have lost over 2 stones recently!) from Yorkshire and his wife. We'll be back there next time we're in the area.
Yep you can't beat a good pie I have a plate mince and onion pie every Friday night before I go to the pub
What's the weirdest pie you ever heard of, or have eaten then. I was at a food festival in Melton Mowbray at the weekend and saw wild beaver pies for sale. Didn't buy one tho, I know what beaver tastes like
Yep Cruel employers at the end of the day, starving the workers to death and forcing them back to work, eating humble pie! In fact, pies go down so well in Wigan that every year, the World Pie-Eating Championship takes place in the town
Hey hey..... it's FRIDAY I'm gonna have a geet big plate mince pie and then go to the pub It's a life....innit?
