Been there and I feel your pain. No CCTV and it was my only transport at the time but at least the damage was only light cosmetic to an aging Suzuki that was hardly cherry. Biggest nuisance was the wrecked cover but boy was it annoying to think someone couldn't care less and just drove off.

 

Sorry to hear your bad luck mate, Hope the idiot is caught and that his insurance pays up. Keep us posted.

Peeing rain, so wash and brush up, checked over and brakes, bleeded, one bubble at the master thats the first time Ive done that so I cant complain brakes are rock hard now.

New bike's up to to 950 kms now so that's enough for her 1st service next Tuesday. Started working her a little harder today - by jove but she's really got some go !!!

 

Left my StTwin at Woburn Triumph today to be checked over for safety - the bar is def off kilter - and borrowed the demo StScrambler. Me and NickH then went on a little tour of Herts, Bucks and Beds, with a smidgen of Northants tucked in iirc. Dropped off some RoR posters at Flitwick Motorcycles and Hertfordshire Triumph (Hemel). We've got some cracking good roads round this way, including some semi-green lanes - you know, once were tarmac, now mostly tarmac shrapnel and weeds.

Wonderful to see. Brought back so many memories. The sheene machines started my love affair with motorcycles. And the original "win it or bin it" 34 machine had me on the edge of my seat during Kevin's winning season.

Had a STEEEWpid moment yesterday in traffic. When changing lanes on a steep incline, the car in front slammed the brakes. I stopped without a worry, but was sideways on that climb, couldn't hold her, SLAM!, bike on the ground, and me under the truck behind that thankfully was stopped. A very scary moment.

Sore ankle and deeply hurt pride aside, the bike survived the fall impressively well. Gear lever bent (a classic), very minor scratches on left mirror and crash bar (did its job!), and a broken gear change pedal. This one was a serious pain. It's just the pin that broke:



I could order the OEM, it's only 7£, but add 12£ delivery to Ireland. So instead I went to my buddies at Deckwell's Hardware, and we came up with a solution: a projecting bolt anchor, one pair for 5€.



Almost perfect fit. Took a bit of work to get the rubber on it, and had to cut the screw to size. But if anything, I reckon it's even stronger than the OEM stuff. All is well that ends well.

 

Been there Mischa, done that more than once on the Tiger. Broken pride and bits of the bike are soon repaired just so long as your body is in one piece mate.

Had a bimble down to Newlands Corner this morning. Nice to wander about admiring the machinery but was glad when the groups of Harleys and Ducks left so the ground stopped shaking and my ears stopped bleeding. Several kids by the cafe resorted to putting their fingers in their ears and the glares coming from everyone else were understandable. Several of them were utterly OTT noise wise.

Won't be going back any time soon but that's more because I had forgotten how much I hate riding through the congested hell that is Surrey.

took a run over to the Bikers cove in Queensferry,quite a few bikes out for this time of year including this Indian scout,lovely run home via knockhill & Glendevon,Crieff & Sma Glen

 

Waiting for an officer to come out and take statements. They'll first write to the registered keeper to ask who was driving the car at the time.

 

It's not always congested and there's some lovely back roads. Newlands can be a pain, seems to attract harleys, I think they do the boxhill have a pose to newlands have a pose then home again routine. £1.40 for a small tea tho'. Out of a pot too!! Bloody ripoff

 

My son called off our planned meet this morning due to sickness. So with 20 mins to fill up and get over to the club house by 10.00am I grabbed the keys for the borrowed Street Scrambler and joined the OMC annual Memorial Ride with 49 other bikes and 10 pillions. I joined the second group so had another 15 mins in hand anyway. 100 odd miles round Beds, Cambs, Hunts and Herts. Should have been 89 miles but some idjit forgot to hang around at one of the drop off points so us at the back of group two had to bimble around looking lost for a while.

On the way back from the mid point coffee/fag break we let loose with some overtaking and had great fun ragging it on some of the twisty country roads in and around Huntingdon and the Kimbolton Road. The Triumph 900 twin might run out of steam trying to keep up with the Gixers and Busas on the long A roads, but they can't hold a candle to the Streets on the twisties - pulled away from them all round them tight corners Back at the club house it was "blimey Rich, how do you do that with only one eye?" "Not me mate" says I "those twins drive themselves". Seriously love those bikes. They are such a piece of piss to ride. Honestly, just feather-touch the bar end and it's round the corner before you know it. And they revel in being chucked around. So agile.

The annual ride is in memory of all former Oakley MC members who have passed on over the years. On a really sad and poignant note, we later become aware that one of our younger club members, Darryl, had been killed yesterday when a Mini ran straight in to him at a crossroads when he was returning with mates from RTTW yesterday afternoon.

I used to ride with Bemsee until recently, and they are much better organised club.
I rode up on Sunday afternoon to watch a friend race, but got there just after 3...so I saw no racing at all

Pulled the screen, trim and beak off my Tracey today to get the headlight off so that I could fit an easy start light module, tested it before putting it all back together again it worked but couldn't find a hole big enough to run the cables out of the bowl so took it out again and put everything back together. At least I learnt I don't need to take half the bits off that I did to get the headlight off!

 

Lovely morning so I had a ride up to Triumph World at Chesterfield, nice place full of all things Triumph, came away with a Triumph patrol leather jacket for £75, very happy with that!

down to jack lilley romford today for 12k service on the speed r ,,,all day event..... so took out 900 Bonneville for the day ,,Burnham , Bradwell , Maldon , Tiptree and back .....nice little ride..but dont think ill be tradin in the triple yet...... great bunch of guys down there .....
