To be fair it was 7 years ago. Brittany has a lot going for it. Spent many a trip covering vast mileages just riding from base to base & not really enjoying scenery & what the surroundings have to offer. Would like a trip where one is able to bob bob bob about 'BOB' & not spend all day getting a numb bum

My ideal trip would be to ride to a base (hotel/motel) and take daily ride outs from there. That way you get to see places rather than just riding. I like to sample local beer and good.

Hi Steve, just for your info, me and a couple of pals are using hotels (basic) are on our Italian Job next week. All hotels are booked and paid for and work out on average at 20€ per person, per night - including breakfast.

All booked on the phone, whilst drinking beer in our local bar. Love this technological era.

That said: If I can be of any help should you decide coming into, or through Germany!?
There are German homepages for biker-hotels, like:

    http://www.mein-tourenhotel.de/

I'd gladly be your translator during the planning, should you need one placing calls and such :)
Lots of (humorless) people speak English though as well... :D

June to August is quite hot the last couple of years. There are some really wet days as well. Like yesterday:
We had rain for 8 hours non-stop.
But hot and humid climate prevails during summer.
My favorite months are May and September & October. The Mosel and Rhein rivervalleys are beautiful during fall and spring and it is not that hot for biking.

    Cheers, Daniel

I'm going to vote for the Hartz
Been to France a few time but never Germany.
Though if I'm outvoted then I'll still go.

How about spending some time here :-
    http://www.bikerhotelgermany.com/
And then going on to here :-
    http://biker-hotel-harz.de/en/your-biker-hotel-harz-mountains-germany/
    Or vice-versa.
The Northern contingent sailing from Hull could meet up with the Southern contingent sailing from their port of choice at the first venue. TrophyCat(maybe BonnieCat) could meet up with the Northern lot somewhere in Clog Country.
Winglad could take his pick(No not in a tank Daniel).
Anyone wanting a short trip could go back after the first venue.
This way we get to see The Eiffel, the Moselle and the Harz Mountains.
Both venues are geared up for bikers and will provide routes.

Sounds good to me! I've stayed about 10 miles from here in Zell Kaimt - fantastic area.
I would use the tunnel and ride there through Belgium - possible meet up on way.

    Both of those look good
Reading the room rates for the Bikerhotel it say's you can't book a single room for one night on a weekend, just something to watch out for.

Was thinking several nights at each venue and doing ride outs each day.
Plus for extra interest the Motel in the Harz area is only 100 miles from Buchenwald camp, worth a trip.

The Harz is really interesting as it was the area of the old East German border area. Plus the villages are awesomely beautiful and quaint.

So when ? Obviously we don't want to clash with the GMU2018 which I would think will be July/August 2018. So what about early or late, say May/June or September ? What say you ?

From a personal point of view we don't tend to have any work during june/july so that would be good but if it clashes with the GMU then will be happy anytime [so long as I go ] and definitely would want to ride/meet up with others for the ride over.
