Spent two days struggling with the foibles of choosing form over function:

@Samuel F and I decided to wrap our headers yesterday, myself because I am a terrible hipster and Sam because he want's to be more like his hero @dilligaf .

I unfortunately seem to have bought new studs made of chalk to replace the rusted old ones. Two of the four sheared before they were fully tight. Thankfully far enough out of the engine casing that I can coax them out with mole grips but still a pain in the arse. Have ordered some different studs so will have another go at all that nonsense in a few days.

Sam on the other hand suffered the woes of a stripped thread when trying to refit his right foot peg bracket. Thankfully I managed to tap it out and re-fit it this evening but all in all this quick and relatively pointless mod to our Bonnie's has been a bit of a debacle.

I've ticked the funny mojo, but I know it isn't.

It is actually a real twat, not being able to have confidence in the most basic of engineering components, nuts and bolts!

All I can recommend is to buy any nuts, bolts, threaded bar etc. from a trusted engineering suppliers which is always my first port of call.

Cheers for the tips, always good to add to the repertoire. As I say broken studs should be easy enough to get out with mole grips. Good job since I am clueless about welding, was set to cut a slot in it and screw driver the bugger out if the grips failed.

Worth investing in a basic tap & die set if you are doing your own maintenance.
Used with proper cutting fluid you can clean and maintain your threads unless they are totally naquered.
Decent set of High Speed Steel twist drills as well, just in case you need to drill the studs out.

Need to invest in some, borrowed a tap set from work to fix Sam's bike but it'd be good to have my own

A decent set of taps and dies is a must. Don't be tempted with the really cheap sets as they aren't that good, they are fine for softer metal like aluminium but are prone to breaking whilst cutting the threads in anything harder no matter how much cutting fluid you use.

Get a set from an engineering suppliers and you'll be fine.

Just discovered that I'm low on coffee beans, disaster!

So, this morning I are mostly doing a run to IKEA on the old velocipede to stock up on their coffee beans. I really like the flavour and they're a lot cheaper than the Lavazza or decent supermarket coffee.

I usually buy three or four kilos at a time. I love the coffee but hate the store!

I had made a custom tax disc withe issue date being my date of birth and the number plate and town of issue being Cardiff , The same number plate and town of issue as my Grandfather's Royal Enfield in the 30's.
I also installed the Visor on my front headlamp.

Been busy getting all the shitty weather off of pen. Adjusted and cleaned the chain and wheel. Gave the down pipes a bit of a clean and a bit more paint. The rain made them a bit dull. Quick Engine clean and hey presto.:):D. Just the paint work to do tomorrow. It's been a very hard day at work today .
