Hi peeps I bought my Triumph Tiger 1050 at Wigan Yamaha on Thursday last week road it home and fell in love with the handling straight away but the gear change was notchie I went for a ride out on Sunday to Derbyshire and it was fantastic the only problem was i couldn't change gear I got back home and took it back to Wigan yam and they said my clutch had gone I'd only done 250 mile on it from picking it up i couldn't believe it so I took it back and they are going to check it out under warranty I just hope they do it right its a great bike to ride I did have a DL1000 and I loved that bike i did 30.000 miles on it with out any problems at home and in France I hope once they sort out the clutch i can do the same on the Tiger :upyeah:

Hi big john & welcome to the forum. View attachment 2226
Personally i dont know anything about the 1050 engine so cant help you there. Whats the age & mileage of the bike?
But at the end of the day if the dealership is going to change the clutch under warranty then happy days. Unless you drag your clutch a lot or you are a wheelie merchant then it should last for ages.

Welcome to the forum mate. The 1050 clutch has always been a little "notchy" but as far as I'm aware it's not common for the gearbox to completely give up. As Pig says it's under warrenty so at least it'll be sorted.

Hi and welcome to the forum, shame about the clutch issues, at least the supplying dealer is sorting. As far as I am aware the clutch on the 1050 engine is not a weak point and the engine is well proven.

I'm sorry to hear about the clutch going after 250 miles, what a hassle, doesn't exactly inspire confidence in the new purchase. I have just bought a second hand Tiger 900 1999 with fuel injection and if something major like that occurs with mine, I haven't bought it from a dealership and it will be me who has to stump up for it. I know the 1050 is miles apart from the springy 21st century model but the parts and labour would most likely be similar.
