Ive had my 2016 T120 for 1 week and love it. I haven't ridden my other bike at all. When riding the Bonneville, I don't know if it's just me imagining it or what, but there seems to be a very slight vibration? juddering? On the front end. Like you're going over painted lines every second almost, or a lump in the tyre, which I checked and nothing. It's not all the time either. Suspension? I'll be honest, my knowledge of mechanics is very little. I'm going to call the dealer just to get them to check it out, but I thought I'd ask you fine fellows first. Thanks.

About 1500 miles. Not sure what make tyre, I'd say it's the original stock one. I'll check when I get home.

I would firstly check the tyre pressue( overinflated would cause bounce) Secondly if possible to raise fromt wheel, rotate & run palm lightl across rotating tread, you will feel if there is any distortion to the tyre. Thirdly spin front wheel & listen for the front pads on the brake disc, if a distorted disc you will sence an on off rubbing. You could use the end of a screwdriver against the disc face, again spin the disc & check for disc distortion. Unlikely to be a warped disc unless you can feel an on/off sensation whilst gently on front brake as you come to a rest or vibration under braking at speed. Hope this helps (Retired mechanic)

May sound silly but if all checks reveal no faults. Try & find out what roads you are on when this happens. Repeat the routes to confirm. May be the road surface not the bike. Gives you an excuse to get out on it if nothing else

Thanks Ken, I'll try that tonight. It's so slight and when riding not braking.

No noise, apart from the brakes squeezing now and again, but I hear that's common. I just spun the front wheel and there is a spot where something is rubbing. It's hardly anything but it could be the issue. I'm taking it back to the dealers on Saturday.

Yes, just get the dealer to check what is called the 'run out' on the front disc. This could also be a scenario where it gets worse the hotter the disc gets. The fact that what you are experiencing is not consistent, I suspect the disc will be within tolerance.Good luck

    Update.

I've just been to the dealer and the owner took the bike out for a ride. When he came back I asked if he noticed anything, he said yes and no. He asked me to try their demo T120 to see what I thought. Within a minute I realised it was exactly the same as mine. He said they've had issues with new bikes before having a flat spot on the tyre from sitting in the crate and would change it if I wanted, but mine is a year old and there wasn't any issues with the previous owner, who bought it new from him. After riding the demo I'm happy that it's me and not the bike. It's just a completely different ride to my Yamaha. He said that when the tyres are due to be changed maybe go for a different make. They are Pirelli at the moment. He also suggested maybe stiffening the pre load. Anyway, I'm happy I satisfied my curiosity and I rode it like I stole it coming home!

Happy you're happy. Tyre scenario sounds like a distinct possibility although I suspect you would have noticed on your initial checks last week. Did you tell us what Yamaha you had? (I suspect my memory loss kicked in again).

Blimey, couldn't get much different. How did you find it? I had an MT09 prior to buying Thruxton. Did not really warm to the MT, very snatch fuelling, basic suspension, but hey for less than £7000 I suppose you get what u pay for. No complaints so far with the 'R' except for the genuine leather panniers I bought for touring which have currently gone back to Triumph for warranty assessment.

The FZ (MT) was my first road bike. Yes, it's basic, but it is so much fun. Fast, light, agile, point and go! It only cost me about £5k brand new. I've actually just been out on it for the first time in a few weeks and I'd forgotten how much I like it. I love the Thruxtons but I thought they would be too similar to the Yamaha, if you know what I mean. So I nabbed the Bonneville and love riding that too, it's completely different. I was going to sell the FZ but I don't think I'll bother, maybe a track bike!

Why not indeed! Where is your nearest track & have you participated before?

    Hi,
it seems as though a balance weight has dropped off your wheel, try having the wheel balanced.
