    Hi all,

Was hoping to use all your excellent knowledge...!

As some may know, I planned a trip around Canada last year and then unfortunately lost my license for medical reasons meaning everything had to be cancelled! We were gutted but it couldn't be helped!!!

So, now the license is back, we've booked flights to New Zealand's South Island next year. I was just wondering if anyone had been or toured around any of NZ?

We're there for 16days so hoping to ride for maybe 10 of them?

Any tips/pointers/must see's/companies/advice etc would be much appreciated!!!!

    Thanks all!

That's another place on my bucket list:dizzy: I'd need a month though, so it will have to wait until i stop working:( New Zealand looks amazing and the south island is supposed to be the best, very similar to Scotland, but the roads are deserted.i would go on somewhere like myroute-app where you can check out all the fabulous roads. Punakaiki to Inangahua looks amazing as does Arthurs pass, but the place is full of mega roads:D If i were you I'd try and stretch it to 16 days riding..or more!

We'd love longer but unfortunately that's all the time off we can get! We're meeting a couple friends who are hiring a camper van and going to ride around and camp as many places we can in our limited time.

The riding days will probably go up from 10 but I haven't started planning anything yet!

Where are you starting and finishing, I've been a couple of times, recently doing 4 weeks this January albeit on four wheels, but I can give you some ideas.

You could look at shipping your bike out, because of the hire costs it might not cost much more, plus you can take more gear out as it's in the container! I think with all taxes, duty etc etc you can get a bike out and back for around £1500, worth looking into!

I'm sure they do mate, but I've just been working out how much it would cost me and the missus for a 2 island tour and it looks like in the region of £12-15,000 without spendies or beer :worried::worried::worried::worried::worried::worried::worried::worried:

Doesn't include flights though (maybe £2000 for two). The rider price for a mid-range bike about £6900 + pillion £4800 plus, plus plus

Too rich for my blood, the container and using your own bike sounds more of a runner though.

thats is really expensive! the self guided price is £3k + 1.3k pillion for the 14 day or 4.5k +1.3k pillion (that includes accomodation) for the 21 day.. plus flights and spendies. i think unless you were going for at least a month taking your own bike woudn't work out that much cheaper..but it would be a lot more hassle!

I was looking into this as the world triumph owners mcc are holding their event out there in Feb 19 and I reckoned I could get me and the bike and corresponding gear + out and back for just under £2,500 then however long you stay makes no difference to that sum, obviously the extra depends on what you do and how you do it when you're out there. It was meant to be a part of my bucket list for my sixth decade but for personal and w^rk reasons I decided I can't commit that far ahead.
