Went out for a 250 MKS round trip to a bike dealer in Limoges and was offered a go on a 1200 Indian Scout. Surprisingly nimble, plenty grunty and and quite easy to assimilate the 'feet-forward' riding position. Makes me wonder about an America or Speedmaster to add to my 'stable'.
Go for it, you might want to include the Thunderbird LT or Storm to your list to test ride....... Wessa
Had new tyres fitted to my Thunderbird LT today. Picked the bike up and then scratched the tyres for a couple of hours. Stopped on the A556 for a rest. Then off home stopping for a pint at my local.. Bike is now ready for Ireland at the weekend.... Wessa
Great bikes the America and Speedmaster biglad, but what about the Indian Scout ? Seen a couple this week on my hols and they are absolutely beautiful. Do they keep their value ?
Ah yes. Not an area I am familiar with as father in law is south east of Limoges near Boisseuil, and we try not to venture into the city if we can avoid it.
You don't need to go into the city, it's just off the A20 : https://www.google.fr/maps/dir/MOTO...5af0!2m2!1d1.3092073!2d45.7771072?hl=en&hl=en
Well over here the Scout 1200 range starts from about 14,500 euros up to 21,000. It's a nice bike but not overwhelming in terms of perceived quality imo. The one I rode was actually quite nice to ride, not too vibey and handled surprisingly well, much better than a 1200 Sportster for example; engine was very gutsy low down and like to rev (a bit). If I do pursue this cruiser itch, it'll probably be an America though, go to be Triumph for me. As well as a good ride, I do think the blue and white Americas look the dogs danglies.
Getting sorted today heading to a local bike rally (Dragon slayers) tomorrow for a weekend of drinking (in the sun hopefully lol )
'All good things come to he who waits' someone once said........ that's all fine and well but when you're an impatient bugger like me it's hard going. Anyway..... 91 days after I paid my deposit my new bike has finally arrived and what a cracker it is, I'll have great fun on this beauty I'm sure.
