Bob, the best improvement to biking is a woman on the rear pillion who has boobs so big they massage your back. It even makes hitting the brakes pleasurable :). Makes everything easier until she starts talking, lol.

No one mention weight, going from steel and cast iron to alloy has probably halved the weight

You ever think.. "Too far!" ???
Surely something's are a detraction from motorbikes, not an improvement?
A bike that is reliable... improvement! :)
A bike that handles so neutrally, even your nan would ride the 1100 version! : unamused:
A bike that brakes, accereates, changes gear & parks itself whilst wiping your arse... :pensive:

I'm sure I'd like to experience riding the latest, greatest inventions in biking, see what the fuss is about, it'd be an addition to the knowledge pot... I'm just not sure it'd be an improvement to my best biking experiences!

It's an extra peddle on the Right Hand Side ! It's very hard to put your foot on as it's unstable ! They were banned because of this ! OH&S ruled them dangerous to the operator and the general public .... :p

Improvements? Try riding on the tyres of 40 years ago. Not so much chicken strips as turkey tracks......

Electric starter? Sounds like you've gone Commando! I remember trying to start my flat R100RS with that ridiculous short side lever.......forget it!

Not exclusively for bikes, but I have to marvel at GPS navigation, to me it's like magic. I love and depend on it.
Now things on bikes. I think modern efficient brakes have made bikes more enjoyable to ride. The old GS750 I have has a single not very good disc brake on the front and braking is scary, but in their day they were good.
Also ABS and Traction Control all help to make riding more safe. Could've done with these way back in the 80's.

The most important upgrades to any motorcycle is the rider, a skinny rider will have more power to weigh that a fat one, so best advice today.... loose weight and your poor bike will handle much better :joy::joy::joy::joy: Im talking about myself guys:confused: stopped smoking and gained 5 stone, had a shock on the scales the other night so if you see a white Bonneville come flying past you you will know I lost a bit :p
