    Hello there!

Thought some of you may be interested in this...

I thought it would be good to have a waterproof case to go in the space above the handle bar clamp for things like phone, passport & also credit card for tolls when abroad & bacon sarnies & tea when in the UK.

So I bought a couple IP68 rated ABS plastic cases to play around with.

This is what I have come up with as a first attempt using some spare Aluminium, some conduit clamps and some rubber bumpers from my old R6. I have a few other ideas and might make a few more if anyone is interested.

This version I have made so that you don't need any mods at all to the bike it just fits either side of the bar clamp, but I also thought it may be better / easier to buy a separate R type top clamp drill and tap it to mount the case directly and then just exchange the clamp (ideal also if you have a non R Speed Triple and would like R clamp as an upgrade).

I have added a couple of black cable ties around the clips just in case!

Haven't had chance to make the mouting plate look nice by rounding off the corners and painting it black etc & I will be sticking on a Triumph Logo in the rectangle space on the top cover of the case a bit later - probably......

Waterproof, solid and with a foam insert.... What do you guys think?

    Cheers,
    Footumpsh.

Yes, it could have its merits but what's wrong with a little detachable tank bag or your jacket pocket ?
I'll be honest I never use my phone when I'm out on the bike, I love the freedom and solitude and no buggers going to spoil it for me.
Looks like that may be a nuisance to getting your ignition keys in and out ?

Nothing at all wrong with a little detachable tank bag or using a jacket pocket but I guess that is a bit like saying whats the point of a tail pack - why not just use panniers.
The main reason for me is to be able to access it easily without fumbling about with zips and I am not that keen on tank bags and filler cap mounted luggage (mainly as you have to take it off to put in some fuel) or having my phone in my pocket (normally wear leathers).

I don't think it would need Mr Tickle to get the key in & out. :)

So all good so far then!

Ideal for those Euro toll booths, my solution was the wife sitting on the back (different bike then) but she's way way more expensive!!:grinning:
Of course the best solution is to avoid the motorways in the first place.

    Yes agreed!
Maybe I should look at it as a "case in a space" rather than what's the best thing to put in it.

Having said that it would also be good for:
    Tic Tacs
    Condoms
Playing Cards (for Solitaire whilst waiting for the French dockers to finish their strike)
Cigars / Cigarettes / Rollies / Lighter - if you smoke...
Chewing gum / Space Dust / Cola Bottles / Opal Fruits
    Visor wet wipes
    Keys
    Sunglasses / Glasses
Loctite for your mates with KTMs
    Anadin Extras
    Imodium (for trips to Spain)

^ Tic Tacs before condoms on your list. So you have to kiss the women over there before donning your raincoat (condom). Sorry mate, I find humor in the oddest places....big smile.

    Condoms?

Do you mean "rubber johnnies"? ;)

Anyway, looks quite good that mate. I like the idea of a little pouch/tank bag type thingy up front.

That looks like a nice piece of kit and would have lots of uses, I am sure you would get interest if you offered some up for sale.
