Got my Triumph America out of storage this afternoon, Happy days?

    Almost!

Went to garage to fuel her up as she was on reserve when i put her in storage. Then the first 20 mile of journey home was good but then, i was red-lining it through the gears from the traffic lights & it developed a massive flat spot & had no power. I pulled over, switched it off & started it up again, misfiring like mad. Pulled away & it struggled to hit 60 mph, sounded like it was only firing on 1 cylinder. On the straights the power would cut in intermittently for a split second or so, on right hand corners & roundabouts the misfire disappeared but came back again on exit of corner/roundabout?

Im thinking either... spark plug, HT lead or coil pack? What do you guys reckon? Managed to nurse it home with no power, popping & banging like a shit house door in a storm!

No way man! These little things are sent to try us, BUT... I can fix it, not a problem. Its just a case of finding the time to do it.
Not in any rush to get it sorted as its officially winter from this Sunday & i have got so much work on at the moment with my project bungalow. I just wanted to get the bitch out of storage & safely at home where i can masturbate over it in the evenings.

What year is your America? Asking cause want to know if it`s carbed or injected. If it has carbs I`m putting all my money on clogged jets and you need to pull your carbs off and give them a proper clean. My CBR did that last spring, pulled the carb pack out, opened the bowls, not a speck to be seen but gave the jets a proper spray of KENT ONE SHOT, been working like a charm ever since. Which reminds me I gotta go put fuel stabil on the tank for the winter, run the carbs dry and fill up again with stabiled fuel.

Its an 07, carb model. Was running great when i picked it up. Did a few miles then it lost power so flicked it over to reserve & all was good again, Then put £20 worth of fresh unleaded in it & went great again for a further 15-20 miles before developing the big misfire. My money is on electrical gremlins due to the misfire disappearing when its banked over to the right on corners & roundabouts.
When i get a bit of time i shall put the deerstalker on, dig out the magnifying glass & do some investigating, starting with the plugs & work backwards.

Apart from the right lean, again my cbr did the exact same, damn close leaving menon tje freeway only running on full throttle then all of the sudden goes full bore until i let go of the throttle it starts misfiring and running on three again . Could well be an electrical issue but im still inclined on the carbs being partly glogged.

Set fire to it, claim the insurance and get a Speed Triple. Hope this helps. (Actually I don't give a flying fuck if it helps or not - just get an SIII). x

Sorry to hear about that dude. A few points which may give you some ideas. Perhaps check the plugs to see if they're actually burning fuel, check that fuel is being pumped into the cylinder with the plugs out, turn it over for an hour without the plugs in and then take a match to the cylinders to see how big the explosion is?

Check the plugs are sparking by attaching each plug to your balls and turn it over a few times. Better yet get a sadistic friend to turn it over with the plugs attached to your balls as this provides more pleasure, just make sure your sufficiently grounded.

Just had heated grips and a Garmin 340 GPS cradle fitted by Gedges at their Pevensey Bay branch (despite it being the Honda shop).

So far I'm very impressed with both.

So I'm guessing you 'photoshopped' your pic to make you look Caucasian? x
