Planning on popping a few tins of Foster's bitters shortly. It is hot and windy as F@#k here and I am stringing some chicken wire to the bottom of the cyclone (chain link) fence to give my dog, Jerry, a more sporting chance at catching rabbits. Believe it or not the garden raiding big eared rat bastards can run full tilt right through the diamond shaped openings of the cyclone fencing....looks like they flow right through it. This chicken wire will delay their exit. Imagine their surprise when they bounce off of it.....BIG MAD SCIENTIST LAUGH :).

Jerry is fast as lightening and it just is not sporting for him once they leave the fenced yard via that porous fence. There are so many rabbits here that some days it looks like the ground is moving, lol. He is instinctive on the kill though - bites head and then tosses them up in the air. All the Dobermans and Dogo Argentinos I worked with would instinctively kill snakes in this fashion.
It was a former horse property here all flat and open. I have put in more than 40 trees on irrigation outside the fenced yard so critters have nice habitat. If they enter Jerry's yard then they play by Jerry's rules I figure.

Used to live in a 300 year old cottage, even having cats, still regularly got mice in, the wee bastards got into the oven, could hear them running around inside. Tried trad' mouse traps but didn't always work. Someone gave me a humane trap, that didn't kill them and it was 100% hit rate - but what do you do with the wee twitchy faced bastard once he's caught ? Not setting free, just gonna come back in.

Sporting chance I thought, out into the farmyard, call our cats - up to 6 at the time - and then release the wee bugger - dropped into a circle of 6 cats - great fun watching them - they wouldn't go mad, the cruel bastards would just sit there watching the wee mouse and really scare the hell out of it before someone went in for the kill.

Bit cruel, but when you put your grill on for a bacon sandwich and you can smell mouse piss as it warms up !!! You would too:mad::cool:
