Has anyone else with a 765 got a strange patterning on the top of the pad on the rear seat cowl. The picture isn't great but on mine it's quite unsightly in the flesh. I've tried to clean it off but with no luck. Any suggestions as to what it is and how to get rid of it?

Looks like a liquid of smoking has been allowed to dry on / evaporate.
Soapy water? cleaning fluid? etc etc

It looks like it has either had some liquid on there that has not agreed with the plastic or it is moulding contamination from the injection moulding process. (Mould release spray or similar)

Been onto the dealer today. Tried to fob it off. Dissappointing actually, but, I have requested a replacement.

+1 with mickeng, would say it's release agent from the mould.

Substandard, needs replacing, give em shit until they do.

There could very well have been a batch made that have all got this cosmetic quality problem.
As this part is the visual 'A' face of the moulding the parts should have been rejected and not passed through quality inspection at the moulders.
If they did get to Triumph, Triumph Q/C should have rejected them and demanded a new batch.
This needs a strict and determined Q/C manager at Triumph to look retrospectively at the problem, so you need to make a formal complaint.
There could be thousands from the same batch in the system so replacing it with another poor one is not the answer.

I spoke to my dealer today. Apparently the warranty claim was issued and accepted so just waiting for a new cowl to turn up. Hopefully be here for my first service next tuesday.

Apparently the tank pad and frame sliders have arrived too, but the paddock stand Bobbins are still proving illusive!

It hoofed it down on Service day so didn't get a chance to have the bike serviced. The dealer can't fit it in until 15th July!! Maybe it's me but that seems quite poor how long you have to wait before you can book a service in. Think they are punnishing me for cancelling becasue of the rain. lol

New cowl has arrived and will be fitted when the bike goes in for the service, which is fair enough so pleased with the outcome, providing it isn't the same as the one that's fitted! Famous last words...Anyway, will get those images posted as promised. :)

I agree over the wait when booking a service, local dealer at Wickham couldn't fit me in until July 3rd & I asked at the end of May, the next nearest did it last week which was just as well as already had 700 miles on by then! But mentioned the mark on the cowl & was told there were no other complaints, Triumph system down the day I went for service but they would contact me .... like Diana Ross ... I'm still waiting! By the way, if you get it serviced any where other than supplying dealer then you pay for the labour as well as the consumables, mine was £162!

Yep, bought my SpeedIII from dealer 400 mls away (long story), only found out must pay labour from my "local" (only 80mls away) dealer. Apparently Triumph include labour cost of 1st service to supplying dealer, and not transferable.

It seems there are a few quality issues with Triumph accessories of late, and dealers seem to be too lazy to chase up the problems.
Customers need to insist on satisfaction, and Triumph needs to get a grip. Quality is everything in this market.

Here, here, if you buy something from Triumph you expect top quality.

Bike is booked in for the 15th. I'll see if the new cowl is acceptable then. The way things are going in many industries nowadays I'm not completely convinced it will be but we'll see.

Mine was exactly the same. The dealer got a replacement rubber and stuck that onto my seat cowl, it took 2 minutes.

    It looks perfect now.

I finally got my bike in for it first service today. The dealer has changed the pad on the rear cowl and all looks good.

So, service done, all that was to do was ride the bike home. So, much more fun than the ride there. If I'm honest, I wasn't sure if the bike was going to provide enough enjoyment to keep me interested in it for any length of time. I will say initially though, it looks as though I was unduly concerned. What a great ride home it was, it may just be the perfect balance of power and handling for the road and track. I am really looking forward to putting more miles on the bike and perhaps a new pipe is in order. Looking forward to seeing more impressions of the Yoshimura and SC Projects offerings before making a decision on which way to go.

If you're thinking of getting a 765, don't waste too much time deliberating... ;)
