    Hey all,

Not sure if this is the right section but here we go...

The missus is taking her DAS soon and once passed we're hoping to get her a Street Twin.

    So...

I was wondering if anyone had one on here they were thinking of selling off?

I've been looking online and there's a few about but not loads so thought I'd test the water! We'd be looking to buy around May time I guess.

    Thanks guys!

Hi Matt good luck in your search. The bikes are brilliant so I'm not sure many owners will be letting theirs go after such a short time and if they are I would want to know why.

Don't discount the 865 Bonnie's, they're a nice bike to ride and you can probably pick them up cheaper now they've been superceded by the Street Twin.

I wouldn't say we've discounted it!! I ride a Scrambler and love it but when we've been to look at bonnie's for the missus they've all been a bit tall and heavy.

She feels much more comfortable on the Street Twin which I think is more important bearing in mind it would be her first bike.

If a second hand one doesn't come up we'll go into a dealer to talk about new...we'd just rather get that's not brand new!

There aren't many used ones about for sure. I bought mine for £5000, Cat D write off, so merely cosmetic, 300 miles on the clock. The guy I bought it off paid £4500 from a salvage auction site (one of those where you pay an annual £50 membership fee). He spent £300 on new parts and labour, so made £100 profit on the deal, but couldn't shift it on Ebay for the the £5500 he was looking for.

There's a guy in Ireland selling a red one atm that is cosmetically accident damaged. Had it on Ebay starting at £5000, 'buy-it now' £5995. No takers cos of time of year and he hadn't replaced the damaged parts - end can and foot peg. I'm selling him a mint end can. I took it off mine when I put on the V&H. This chap bought his back from the insurer for £4500. You could contact him and make an offer and get it shipped over (or collect). He's in the South but has a NI address too. If you want his contact details let me know.

The last Cat D one on Ebay sold for £4,509, not repaired, but again fairly cosmetic including what looks like a bang in the tank. Sold by that salvage place in Epsom that does lots of Cat C and D bikes they buy in from the insurers.

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2016-TRIUMPH-BONNEVILLE-900-STREET-DAMAGED-SPARES-OR-REPAIR-NO-RESERVE-10806-/351994301683?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&nma=true&si=nfMuBtuY%2BtEZnVLj2icFgg%2BrY%2Bk%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

Cat D knocks about 30% off going rates, it is said. But then again there is a premium for the rarity value of the Street Twin. It didn't bother me it being a Cat D cos I have no intention of selling it any time soon.

Hi Matt if you cannot get a street twin my mate is selling his bonnie se. The bike is listed in the for sale section, it is immaculate and has done less than 2000 miles on a 2014 plate. Really is worth a look.

Thanks Wessa but I think she has her heart set on a Street Twin. When she's sat on them she feels very comfortable and its a good size!

We did look at a SE that had been lowered for a lady rider but she still wasn't too keen.

Has she tried a cast wheel Bonnie?
They're lower than the Street Twin.

But on a Street twin she'd look 'Dandy on the Highway man !' Wheyaye !

Good luck! they still seem to be quite difficult to get hold of, and the few used ones out there seem to be holding there price. Never going to let mine go!

So I know I posted this a while ago and everyone was happy with their Street Twins...BUT...just as she has now passed all parts of the test thought I'd just double check!

If anyone is thinking of letting their Street Twin go...let me know!

My Street Twin will shortly be on its way to Edinburgh Triumph Matt, I've part ex'd it for a Tiger. I've no doubt they'll have it up for sale in their showroom pdq. Bit of a trek I know :)
